General House Rules

  • I am the Dungeon Master, not the Game Master. We have to keep on theme here, and I’m not restricted as Paizo is by IP laws.
  •
  • Free Archetypes: At 2nd level and every even class level afterwards, you gain an extra Class Feat that can only be spent on Archetype Feats. All archetypes are subject to DM approval. If you plan to take one sooner or later, please let me know.
  •
  • Turns are a lot more fluid, don’t think too hard about how much time you have to say something or the like, so long as it’s fun and makes sense. The pulpiness we are going for means that having a conversation in the thick of battle is entirely appropriate.
  •
  • I will communicate the physical condition of enemies in combat, though not through exact HP totals. When a creature is at hit points equal or less than half its maximum HO, it is bloodied (or broken, as appropriate), and if is at hit points equal or less than 5, it is beaten.
  •
  • Instead of Hero Points, we have Villain Points, which work somewhat differently. See Acts of Villainy.
  •
  • Insight Checks: At any point, you can attempt a DC 15 check using your Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma modifier to receive a hint in the role of a suggestion or gut feeling about the current encounter or story, if you feel you are stuck or have missed a detail your character would know. This will be vague and rarely include new information, but will usually point you in a useful direction. The ability you choose will influence the form in which this insight comes.
  •
  • Lore skills granted by your Culture and Background automatically scale like Lore skills you get from the Additional Lore skill feat. I.e., your proficiency increases to expert at 3rd level, master at 7th level, and legendary at 15th level.
  •
  • You may use the extra action granted by haste to fly or swim as well as move on land. If you are mounted.
  •
  • If you take damage from a critical hit, describe how it permanently marks or scars your character, if appropriate
