Conspiracy Skills
The various areas of specialization and aptitudes that a conspiracy employs are marked by their skills. Unlike a character's skills, conspiracy skills have four key abilities, each used in a different context, and you record their modifier for all four. All skills can be used with the three active abilities (Power, Reach, Guile), as well as one of the defensive abilities (Secrecy, Grasp, and Depth). The defensive ability to be used with the skill is listed in parentheses with each.
Business (Depth)
Business measures the conspiracy's experience with and talent for managing commercial and mercantile interests, as well as a certain acumen and avarice. The more invested in Business a conspiracy is, the more it will begin to resemble a vulture capitalist nightmare. Example Plots:Communion (Grasp)
Communion represents how connected the conspiracy is with otherworldly forces (generally infernal or at least fiendish) as well as their ability to harness divine magic. The more invested in Communion a conspiracy is, the more it will embody the Nine Hells and bring devils in their wake. Example Plots:Contraption (Depth)
Contraption represents the devilish ingenuity and innovations that the conspiracy can come up with, their predilection for traps and gadgets as well as alchemical prowess. The more invested in Contraption a conspiracy is, the more its repertoire will resemble that of a Bond villain.Esoterica (Secrecy)
Esoterica reflects how immersed in mysticism, matters of the Ethereal and soul, and occult magic the conspiracy has become, both in using and studying such things. The more invested in Esoterica a conspiracy is, the more weird and superstitious it will manifest, with a knack for the uncanny.Espionage (Secrecy)
Espionage measures the conspiracy's mastery of the hidden blade and the unseen eye, and how to move within the shadows. The more invested in Espionage a conspiracy becomes, the more shrouded in layers of obfuscation and secrecy it will be, an enigma wrapped in a riddle.Intrigue (Grasp)
Intrigue reflects the conspiracy's familiarity and comfort with moving through the silken halls of politics, influencing and manipulating both petty gangs and great nations alike. The more invested in Intrigue a conspiracy is, the more byzantine and vicious its own internal politics is likely to become.Logistics (Depth)
Oft overlooked, Logistics forms the core of the more day-to-day operations, of bureaucracy and disbursement of funds, of supply chains and payroll. The more invested in Logistics a conspiracy is, the more efficient and agile it will be in operating whilst at the same time gaining a more and more complex internal structure.Prestige (Grasp)
Prestige represents the grandeur and sense of majesty that the cabal cultivates, their ability to act as sovereigns and rulers and truly embody the overlords they mean to be, as well as adorn themselves appropriately. The more invested in Prestige a conspiracy it is, the more imperious and aristocratic it will appear.Security (Grasp)
Security measures the conspiracy's ability to both protect and police itself from threats internal and external, to identify threats and fortify itself in its locations. The more invested in Security a conspiracy becomes, the more it will resemble the kinds of foreboding castles it occupies, an iron curtain surrounding it on all sides.Thaumaturgy (Secrecy)
Thaumaturgy shows how steeped in the arcane and eldritch the conspiracy is, how well it can harness arcane magic and shape reality through the naming of its Principles. The more invested in Thaumaturgy a conspiracy is, the more distant it may seem from earthly affairs and prone to flights of megalomaniacal fancy.Underworld (Secrecy)
Underworld represents a level of knowledge and influence over the criminal element, a penchant for larceny and capers, and a familiarity with such lowly places. The more invested in Underworld a conspiracy is, the more it will resemble an organized crime outfit with all such associations with it.Warcraft (Depth)
Warcraft reflects a conspiracy's readiness (and willigness) to mobilize in a military fashion, as well as strategic and tactical expertise. The more invested in Warcraft a conspiracy is, the more willing it shall be to spill blood (its own and that of others) in the name of its wicked overlords.Wildlore (Grasp)
Wildlore not only measures how adroit the conspiracy is at exploring and navigating the fringes and uncivilized parts of the world, but also its ability to tame and harness wild monsters and tap into primal magic.
