Cratt

Bio

Little is known of these crafty little creatures. Everything you hear of them is gathered from old wives tales and scary stories told to children. If someone loses something valuable like a ring or a necklace then the Cratt is blamed. Very few of those cases are actually caused by one. Those that claim to have seen one describe them as creatures of wood, hay and rope whose eyes look like two burning coals. Others say that they are a tiny orange wisp that leaves a burning line as it moves. Only a select few know who they really are.
Cratts are familiars created by performing dark rituals. Their purpose is to gather gold, treasure and anything else that is valuable and isn't nailed down. They are said to sniff out gold like a wolf would a lamb.

Size

Cratts are between 3 to 4 feet tall and average about 30 pounds

Alignment

Cratts are usually familiars but there are some that have by some clever way achieved freedom. For that reason they tend to be chaotic. They have no strong preference for good nor evil.

Fire walk

As a bonus action, you can turn into a mote of fire and fly up to 25 ft. While flying, you don’t provoke attacks of opportunity and you leave a trail of fire behind you.
This does not deal damage nor does it ignite objects. At the end of the flight you turn back to your original form and the trail disappears.
You need to finish a short/long rest before you can use this trait again.

I smell pennies

You have proficiency in the perception skill. You can add your proficiency a second time to this skill, if it is used to find treasure, using your sense of smell.

Burning gaze

This trait can be turned on and off using a bonus action. Your eyes flare up and burn brighter. In this state your eyes shed light in a 40 feet cone in front of you.
