Crown of Giltbough

A ceremonial piece for coronations, the Crown of Giltbough is carved from grandfather wood, inlaid with silver and gemstones and topped with a fine latticework of Greatneedle shards in a pattern resembling the branches of the First Tree as seen from below. It is lined with burgundy linen with a grandfather tree motif on the inner face.

The current crown was crafted for the first Vulpine King Edvin I almost a century ago, the crown was made as a larger scale version of the previous Crown of Giltbough worn by the Sciurine Kings of the previous dynasty.

Each Vulpine monarch has commissioned a local artisan to make an addition to the Crown, with the most recent being Tuomas III adding a resin-coated grandfather tree seed and Elisabet IV adding a grandfather wood icon of her departed brother.
