PYROKINESIS
Manifestation of flames, pyre ignites the world at your command. Use with caution and confidence, for you wield one of nature's most destructive forces with your own hands.
One of the riskier elemental magics. Pyrokinesis can be anything, from lighting a candle to burning a forest to ashes, or even healing a comrade's wounds. In the human world, it's not exactly common, but not rare either. You do not see it performed by non-magic wielders, seeing as it's a hefty risk and a nightmare to pay for if a single thing goes wrong. However, it can be incredible powerful, and has not been known to be unreliable.
Pyrokinesis isn't just used for destruction, either. Several usages of it have been seen, from burning trash to medics using it to burn wounds closed, or drawing images with expertly placed smoke or burns into wood carvings. Pyrokinesis is more common in daily usage than many people think, and users of the magic have made activities involving fire all the safer with their mastery of the art. Many firefighters are pyrokinesis wielders, or have the blessing of bloodlines with fire in their veins. Firefighting suits are embedded with the protection of pyre.
Just about anything can be burned if you try hard enough, and that's proved by pyrokinesis users.
Effect
It has various effects, depending on the person's trained usage of it and species. However, it always involves some kind of manifestation of fire.
Side/Secondary Effects
Excessive use, like any type of magic, can lead to mental exhaustion. Pushing yourself further can lead to heat stroke, hallucinations, dehydration, delirium, and possibly end up causing self-burns due to loss of consciousness or recklessness. Fire users, especially by amateur users, are not immune to respiratory issues caused by smoke. Professional long-time users can minimize smoke, or even evaporate it altogether, but this is usually after they've developed some kind of lung problem. It's not uncommon for fire wielders to develop asthma or another breathing-related disability.
If a spell is messed up or interrupted, it can backfire on the user, causing anywhere from first to third degree burns or even lighting them ablaze. This does not happen to first generation demons, as they were all given some kind of fire resistance. Current day daemon are more finnicky in this regard. Duke Ell, for example, seems to be resistant against their fire, thanks to it being so ingrained in their blood.
Side effects can be avoided if it's used cautiously and sparingly, like any other magic.
RECKLESS OVERUSE CAN CAUSE MELTING OF FLESH, DEEP ENOUGH TO SOMETIMES DISINTEGRATE BONE. WHILE THIS HAS ONLY HAPPENED A HANDFUL OF TIMES, IT IS MORE THAN ENOUGH. DO NOT OVERUSE THIS MAGIC.
Manifestation
Dependent on the user is the color. Most commonly it manifests in the typical color of flames; reds, oranges and yellows. However, fire has been known to manifest in different colors.
Duke Ell has been seen to have mixed colors. It manifests as a mix between orange and greenish-yellow, likely because of their firefly daemon heritage. Mia's flames have a fuschia hue to them, often with a black outlining. This is likely disconnected from being a ladybug, rather related to her succubi/lust daemon heritage. Flames have been seen in colors such as white, bright yellow, blue, and even purple or pink.
Dragons have had the most variety in fire colors, it seems. The Maleki Family of Draigaral Dynasty is known to possess a variety of colors. Typically white, indigo, violet, black, and any shades in between those colors have been witnessed. Ovelord Zyndir has a mix of black and purple, whereas his brother Prince Azimr has a more striking violet. Princess Rayya has a silvery, almost snowy white. Queen Xadria is an odd one out, being outside the Maleki family, she has golden flames.
Most fire wielders report feeling excessive heat in their limbs, usually their hands or wherever the fire manifests. Duke Ell, having fire in their blood, has stated they constantly feel warmth even without their powers activated. This seems to be true for others, as their skin is always warm to the touch. Amateur pyrokinetic users say it feels like their blood is lit ablaze, and that they're often seen checking their hands for burns. It's frequent to see amateurs or first-time users freak out upon casting their first spells, the heat takes getting used to. Even completely harmless spells or manifestations, like healing fire or shields, will be extremely hot to be around.
The air always reeks of smoke, even if the spell was too small to generate it or controlled enough.
There's a definite reason the larger spells are taught, but not put into practice until the bare minimum six months of learning.
Source
Both non-magic and magic-born can wield it. However, it's more effective when somebody born with the powers, coming from a bloodline of fire wielders, uses it. Non-magic wielders can be taught, but it's generally not recommended because of how easily you can burn yourself. Technological staffs are usually used for pyrokinesis, as it keeps the flames relatively far from the user and is made of guaranteed nonflammable materials.
Known pyrokinesis users:
- MHYRYNNA LADYBUG CATRYSS ("MIA")
- "THE DUKE" ELYNRIA FIREFLY RIGATH ("ELL")
- ROYALTY OF DRAIGARAL DYNASTY
- "NEO"
Gestures & Ritual
It varies. Depending if they were born with it, can wield magic, or do not wield any magic, all rituals are different.
Those born with it can summon it with a flick of a wrist, and it doesn't take much time for them to learn how to do it without vocal commands, either. When learning, all they need to speak is a curt 'summon' or 'manifest', with a visual idea of what they want in their mind. Experienced users don't even have to think about it as the flames become one of them. It's as natural as speaking.
Those who were born with magic, but not pyrokinesis, take longer in training. It also depends if they can wield fire magic. Somebody who wields colder magic may have troubles with the heat, both literally and figuratively. Somebody with earth magic may have it come easier to them, as they ignite the vines and grass under their feet. They are more susceptible to burns, so they usually use catalysts for their own safety, even if they don't have to. There may come a point where they can use it as effectively and instinctively like somebody born with it, but this is often rare and comes with great time and practice. Most times, people at this stage don't even realise they're there until they do it.
People born without magic are never able to do it to the extent of the above. The best they can do is utilizing a catalyst to create small flares and rays, but every move comes with great risk. Even being in the general vicinity can cause great harm, let alone being the one wielding it. Lots of humans get minimal training to know how to use it if they're ever forced to use a catalyst, but very, very few ever actually pursue thoroughly learning it. It's too risky. That doesn't take into account the specific catalysts needed, the maintenence and upkeep, materials, and the before and after caring for both the self and catalyst.

Effect Duration
Varies
Effect Casting Time
Varies, anywhere from a split second to a couple minutes.
Range
Varies. This is fire we're talking about, though. We all know how destructive it can be, and how far it can spread.
Level
Because of its risk, it's not recommended for people who have no magic experience.
Applied Restriction
There are no cultural restrictions, however there are certain restrictions to keep people safe.
- In elven, fae, and other nature-oriented areas, fire magic is generally prohibited for... obvious reasons.
- Fire is very destructive. Catalysts are often locked away in a safe vault in certain large areas such as stadiums, concert halls, or other places where there is a lot of people or lots of destruction to be caused.
- You do not practice fire magic at your home. You always go to a designated building where minimal destruction can happen, and you have supervision in case something does happen. (This rule is generally excluded for those born with it, because their family is around to assist.)
- Cannot be casted underwater, or when user is submerged.
- Less effective in cold (depending on mastery, experienced users are relatively unhindered)
- Should not be casted if user is recovering from (related or unrelated) burns.
