Wrecking the Titanic

"Make sure we have enough supplies for four weeks, were delivering supplies not resupplying ourselves." Freya stood on the old dock supervising her crew. It was early for this run, several weeks early in fact and her crew were grumbling that it'd only be a handful of daylight ours a day, Celest, Bridget, and Axom would have to work harder then normal to keep the ship light. "Surely it's better to wait for longer days" The slithery voice of Chief Salz brought her back to the present, his black scales glistening in the fading sun "Or at least wait till the sun rises again" she smiles, knowing the Naga has her men's morale and best interests in mind, though her command staff had spent hours pouring over the timeline, and timing was everything "King Stephan is paying us a lot of money to get his researchers to the shield this month, and leaving at sun set means we hit the black-eye's bane just as the sun rises. " she smiled as the Naga nods solemnly as Saphire announces everything is loaded.   "We've passed black-eye's bane." Atlas walked into the cabin, a slight glow emanating from him as his fires cooled. "Saf's taken over the count and Celest is on the helm." he sat on the bed exhausted, shift two of the fifth day of the run was the most difficult due to the rapid turns required, it was the shortest shift of the run, but where most ships crashed. "and remind me why Saphire was wasn't your counter this time?" Freya massaged her husband's shoulders the fire touched half giant always did the bane with his daughter, they made a hell of a team on navigating. "Cause one day she will run the ship and be unable to do the count, someone else will have to learn it before a new helmsmen is trained." despite his 'fire' he spoke coldly, "remember what happened when you took over as captain when your father refused to train another counter?" at his comments Freya smiled, the first mate always counted part of the run, but her father had refused anyone else to count the bane, leading to miscounting and near disaster, luckily Atlas' power and seen them through. "I will say however if that Beastman tells us to go faster one more time, I'm skinning him" Atlas smiled as he lay down.   "King Stephan paid you alot of money to get use to the shield quickly" Wynandir snarled, his frustration visible to the on lookers, it'd been a week and a half since the black mist, and the feline was getting inpatient. "I'm sorry but this is a very precises journey" Cardic explained "made more difficult by the darkness" at this Wynandir seemed to sneer, he was not happy about the situation Cardic was worried he was going to do something rash "Get the Captain and Atlas" he whispered to the counter as he took over the count. the sound of running could be heard from multiple parts of the ship as Wynandir yelled "to hell with this, if you won't use the full potential of Emberwood then I will" launching a stream of flame to the mast, fanning it's embers and launching the Titanic forward.   Atlas, Celest, Freya, and Saf all burst out the lower deck. Atlas raced to the helm "move, What have you done" he yelled at those on the top deck as Freya took stock of the situation "Can you compensate?" she looked worried, Saf had never seen her mother look worried. "I don't know, depends how close to" Atlas began as the ship suddenly lurched as if it hit something. the sudden tilt sent most people flying, though atlas held the helm, barging Cardic out the way once the Titanic settled, "I need light" he screamed as Axom and Bridget ran to the front casting light on their maces. "what was that?" Saf almost looked panicked as a cracking sound sent the crows nest and a water touched crashing to the deck. "That was us breaching the river bank" Freya looked up sadly as her husband nodded at Celest.   Celest offered a pray to Akh’Matur as she looked up. Atlas stood proudly at the helm as he nodded to her indicating the real danger of the situation, things hadn't gone south but were in the Lower rings. quickly standing up she put her figures to her throat before speaking with the voice of a divine "All hands be prepared to abandon ship, we have breached the passage, this is not a drill. All fire mages report to the top deck, I repeat this is not a drill." The sound of rushing feet erupting across the ship. "I'm running straight for the shield, any divine listening help us" Atlas said next to her.   "I'm not a fire mage "Kai-Ruban's voice rang out as others prepped for the worst, the young Phervan packing what she could. Chaos had erupted, with only a few crew members directing traffic.   The Titanic lurched around as fire mages powered the masts and Atlas single handed controlled the ship, as it bucked like a mule. "what's the chance of us finding the passage." Freya yelled to the mast as she tried to clear the way "next to none" Atlas yelled back "even if we do, we will have no idea on timings." As those with fire magic arrived onto the deck Atlas turned to them "As much power as you can into the masts, the only way we're getting through this is brute force" As the ship raced forward cracking sounds began to emanate from it.   As the sun rose on the eleventh day of the voyage, the Titanic crashed into a knotted plant, it's vines breaking around the ship, captain Feya, Atlas and Celest being launched into the distance. As the Crew scattered the plant came to life, grabbing Wynandir and ripping him into quarters.
