Winter moon festival

The end of year festival celebrated by the Shifter tribes of The Frozen Forest, and a prayer to Luna for her to grant her blessing till the sun returns. The festival takes place on the winters moons, when the moon glows orange for three nights. The festival itself normally takes place on the second night when a few minutes of day still exist.

Origins

The origin's of the festival seems to predate the era of ages, with the Elves of Q'thurlas having records from the Phervian era of a festival celebrated in the north around the same time. Though the records are light on information , they talk of the tribesmen thinking Luna was angry with them turning her moon orange. This practice seems to have been adopted or continued after the Shifter tribes split.

Modern festival

Though the celebration differ from tribe to tribe, the basics are the same, a pyre is built in the centre of t he winter village with a shaman donning a wolf cloak they have hunted themselves during the dusk season. As the sun sets the shaman leads a procession through the village with every tribesman joining as it passes, the lead of the procession carries various organs. Once the procession reaches the bonfire it divides into two circling the lit pyre. Once everyone is around the shaman offers the organs to Luna by placing them in the pyre, if the smoke turns light blue the offering is accepted and their is a several hours of drinking, eating, and dancing. No other colour smoke has actually been recorded so it's unclear what happens if that's the result.
