Hats are dangerous
A fringe superstition or conspiracy theory about the issues of wearing hats. Started in the 2nd Decima of the blood age, the belief was apparently a silly story coming out of the lowlands about how a group of travellers thought quick silver was used to make hats and caused madness, though other stories said they corrupted the users, linking hat usage to witches. While most found these a stories funny and ludicrous, a few less educated beings started believing it.
By the Fey age small groups spread out throughout Undinia still believe the superstition and so never wear hats, each member having some story of someone going mad from wearing hats, this has earnt those who believe it the nickname 'mad hatters' and are often ridiculed by society as a whole.
Ill health - connected to the madness it is believed that the quick silver poisons the wearer, making them waste away and die young.
Magical Corruption - While the exact type depends on the time, with it just being magical during the Blood age and Void corruption in the Fey, mad hatters believe hats twist you magic turning you evil.
Believed effects of wearing hats
While all these beliefs have been disproven, these are the general beliefs the mad hatters if you wear hats. These only apply to actual hats, not cloak hoods, helmets or shifter head gear.
