Emeas
Emeas are large, predatory, winged creatures found out in the Erg. They can be identified by their menacing wingspan, with a look that stands as a symbol of aerial superiority and dominance. Many people fear emeas, despite the fact that they only hunt smaller creatures (such as baby steccs). They can be seen flying high near islands, which is what helped early settlers discover almost every island known about today.
They cannot survive in hotsand, nor can they withstand the intense heat radiance.
Basic Information
Anatomy
An ovular body is topped with a short neck, that ends with a bulbous and pointed head. Their beaks are long and menacing, with a hooked shape. The sides of the body each host a large and powerful wing, that extends into a wingspan that terrifies its prey. Their legs are practically nonexistent, with seemingly nothing connecting their three-toed, taloned feet.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Strictly carnivorous. They subsist mostly on steccs, but have been known to eat derets as well.
Additional Information
Geographic Origin and Distribution
Typically found near islands, but rarely actually over them.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Emeas can see very far, but not very wide. This hyper-focus lets them cut through the clutter and keep their sights on their prey.
