This is an all-encompassing summary of the history of the ancient Turkic peoples, with a focus on the Göktürk Empires. It includes all known events and developments on a political, economic, and cultural level. The timeline begins mainly with the Ashina rebellion in 546/551 and ends with the downfall of the Second Türk Empire in 745 but also includes the history of the Xiongnu, Xianbei, Rouran and other steppe entities that were either Turkic or came into extensive contact with Turkic peoples of Eurasia. The subsequent sections of Turkic history will be added in phases throughout the next couple of years.
