Umar
With some lonely islands, archipelagos, and a couple landmasses just barely large enough to call themselves continents, the world of Umar is largely dominated by water. Vast expanses of ocean separate those who live on dry land, and give much room to mingle for those who don't. Most of Umar is unexplored by humans, with seafloor ruins of an ancient civilization, uninhabited islands, and abyssal ocean depths just beyond the scope of their maps. Of course, there are non-human cultures as well, but most of them don't keep their knowledge so well-documented.
Magic is abundant, but the ability to control it is scarce. It flows freely through the ocean's currents, but a conduit is needed to shape this energy into something tangible. Sometimes, this energy seeps into the world on its own, creating anomalies of varying significance. These anomalies bring forth creation as often as they cause destruction and chaos. Many mages, witches and priests have dedicated a large portion of their lives to the study of the ocean's magical undercurrents.
There are also many less understood elements at play underneath the waves of Umar's surface. Great leviathans, vast schools of squid and all other varieties of aquatic creatures lurk underneath. The ocean gives life and death in equal measure - supplying many indispensable resources to all its inhabitants, and bringing about storms and catastrophe in the same breath.
