A Clue!

Your class resource is Clues. You gain a clue whenever you succeeded in an investigation check with a DC higher than 20. Lower DC checks may also grant you clues at your DMs discretion. You may have a number of clues equal to half your Investigator level.

Using Clues

The most basic way you can use clues is to re-roll a failed investigation check. However, as you gain in level there are many other ways that you may use these snippets of information.

Extra Features

High Inspiration

For every two levels of Investigator you possess, you gain one extra point of maximum Inspiration.

Inspired Thinking

You may use a point of Inspiration to grant yourself a single clue. After reaching level 10 in Investigator this is increased to 2.

Putting on the Pressure

You can use the information you have gained to put the heat on others. By spending a clue you may gain an advantage on an Intimidation, Persuasion or Bribery check against a character.
Level 3

Clues to Secrets

You may spend a Clue to gain a greater insight into a character. By spending a clue you may attempt a difficult, DC 20+ Insight (for characters) or Investigation (for objects) check against something. If you succeeded you will learn a secret about the target of your investigations. Though, as not all secrets are particularly useful it is best to save these for use against a character you already find suspicious.

Level 4

Detective

Focus on Investigation

You gain mastery with Insight and Investigation and expertise with Perception. You may make either an insight or investigation as a free action once per turn in combat so long as it only targeting a single target.

Get a Better Look

You may spend a Clue to re-roll any Investigation or Insight Check that you are unsatisfied with.

Full Investigation Check

Upon reaching level Egith with the Detective Path, you gain the ability to make a full investigation check. To do so first target an object, creature or reasonably sized space, such as a room.   When targeting an object or creature you will be prompted to make an Investigation Check-in accompaniment to a check related to the target decided by the DM, both with advantage. The results of these roles are then added together as if they were a single roll investigation roll.   When investigating a room t or other such location his way, you will also be prompted to make an investigation check with advantage. When doing so, the result of this roll is applied to every object and creature within the room that you are able to perceive.   When making a Full Investigation Check, you may spend two Clues to re-roll the check again if you are unsatisfied with the results. You may do this as many times as your number of clues allows.

Level 5

Make a Deduction

Using your growing experience you may try and piece together a set of clues in the form of a single deduction.
As a Long action, you may put together a Deduction. Spend a single clue for each piece of information you have gathered for your deduction, which could be anything from a character's involvement to a murder weapon. Once your deduction is made, your DM can then tell you how many pieces of your deduction were correct, but not which ones are. If all of your pieces are correct you will be granted additional information about how they all fit together with a number of Inspiration points at your DM's discretion depending on the difficulty of the Deduction.   When using something in your Deduction you will have needed to have investigated this piece of the information yourself or have very strong reason to suspect it. For instance, if you were to speculate that an Iron pipe was used to kill the mayor. Then you would have needed to have either found an iron pipe nearby that shows signs of violence or have examed the major body to see that it has a pipe-shaped dent in its head.   For more advanced deductions, such as solving a murder there may be some mandatory parts to your deduction decided by your DM. Such as the location of the murder, the weapon used, when it was done, and why it was done.   Characters, especially those accused by you, may object to your assumptions. If this happens you must then ensure that the evidence you have is watertight or the Deduction will fail and grant you know information. To ensure that a piece of a deduction you must provide more than one piece of evidence to support your claims. For instance, if we were to use the example from the paragraph before; You would need to have examined the body and found the pipe in question, and found a link between the two.

Level 12

Arcane Investigator

Gain Magical Ablities

You gain access to a special list of spells only available to Investigators. You may cast these spells using your clues, with the number of clues you need to expend equal to the level of the spell you are casting. Level 0 spells naturally do not require the expenditure of a clue to use.   In addition to this, you also gain expertise with Arcana.
Or

Combat Investigator

Gain Incresed Martial Skill

Your Hitdie for your Investigator Levels becomes a d8. You may re-roll any investigator levels you have made with a d4 using a d8, and keep the higher rolls. You also gain Proficiency in Medicine, Athletics and Three weapons skills of your choice.   If you already have levels or ever gain any in a martial class, your Investigator Hitdice becomes a d10 and you may once again re-roll previous health rolls and keep the highest roll.
Or

Flawless Investigator

Reduce the Need to Roll

You automatically succeed any Insight or Invenstiagtion checks with a DC equal or lower than twice your active modifier. Checks succeeded in this way do not use up an action. In addition, you are no longer able to roll an Investigation check below 12, if the dice rolls lower than this you simply take the result of 12.
