UANOK
A hundred thousand millennia ago, there was darkness, and then there was light. From this light, the Celarks were born. These beings, imbued with the power of creation, formed thousands to millions of galaxies at the snap of a finger. Our galaxy was created more recently in comparison, but is still a few millennia old. Of the many planets that were created, ours was made round and grey, and life was breathed into it. At first, there was only one continent, spawning the creatures of the first age. However, in 300 years, the continent broke into five, each floating to different corners of the planet, later called Terraria or Earth in your native tongue. As time passed, the creatures on each of the five continents evolved, creating the races we have now. The five continents had one at each axis, with the mainland in the middle.
Starting in the North is Arcalen, a land of great mountains reaching to the heavens and dark caverns reaching into the depths of the world. Here the stubborn dwarves survived and adapted to the climate, digging into the mountains for shelter from the wilderness and elements. They discovered their short stature allowed them to create efficiently underground tunnels and also realized their innate talent for mining and craftsmanship. The dwarves then created great underground cities in hollowed-out mountains or deep caverns. This caused two sides to emerge within the dwarves: the Cavern Dwellers and the Upper Mountain people. They generally don't have a connection with Arcana, except for a select few who are hailed as divine heroes due to their rarity.
In the East is Neasil, a land of beautiful plant life where the sun rises and gives life. One of the notable races here are the elves and its many subspecies, the most notable of which are the High Elves. Their pure blood grants them extreme control over their grasp of Arcana and the elements, especially nature. The centaurs and satyrs, both elf-animal hybrids, came into being through interspecies relationships between elves and wildlife. Recently, the Shadar-Kai, elves trapped in a perpetual state between the land of the living and the planes of the dead, have appeared. They have innate magical powers and a talent for necromancy and dark magic. They are the only race where all who inherit their blood have a connection to Arcana and can use raw Arcana at the highest levels of magic.
In the West are the planes of Okule, where there are great planes of desert and oasis. This is where early humans developed. Humans, being adaptable and numerous, took much longer than other continents to settle down, start wars, and enter peacetime. However, despite this late timing and a 100-year gap in technology compared to the other four continents, humans developed way past what others could dream of in just 50 years. They created the first gunpowder weapons just two years after discovering gunpowder, while other races took 40 years before realizing its explosive power. Humans usually only have a connection to a few elements of Arcana; generally, three connections are average. To have a connection to all elements of Arcana is rare, although the chance of this increases with legendary heroes, kings and queens, and generals. To overcome this, humans have created devices to channel Arcana for them, but these objects require incantations, rituals, words, and sacrificed materials to cast magic, unlike the wordless magic that one can use with a connection to an element of Arcana.
In the South, the lands of Koei are home to many notable races, including orcs, goblins, kobolds, lizardfolk, tieflings, gnomes, halflings, and many more. However, Koei is also the location of the Dark Gate of the Abyssal Demons, which provides access to a plane where demons, monsters, demonic beings, undead, and other horrid creatures reside. In response to this threat, the orcs, gnomes, halflings, and tieflings came together to form the Gadian Shogunate and cultivated a culture based on respect, honor, glory, and respect. They have armies of battle-hardened samurai, their traditional warriors, who are constantly fighting to keep the demons and monsters at bay. The Gadian Shogunate is the sole guardian of the world, protecting it from the chaos and destruction that the demons would bring. These races have a unique connection to a special element of Arcana that no other race possesses: the spirits. This unique element allows those with a strong enough connection to contact and channel power from celestial creatures and beings. The Gadian Shogunate therefore prioritizes the use of the spirits in their fight against demonkind. People greatly idolize and revere these spirits and would never think to disrespect them. Other races, such as goblins, kobolds, and lizardfolk, turned to the demons and joined their ranks in order to survive death if the demons succeed in their goal of domination.
In the middle of these four continents is the great land of Ulthair, a land so large that it took 300 years after each continent settled there to meet another continent, and eventually all the others as well. The many races then began vying for control over Ulthair, leading to a long war that spanned countless years. This was called the Second Age or the Age of Discovery. However, Ulthair, which seemed uninhabited when the four continents settled, except for its wildlife, did indeed have occupiers: dragonkind. With their great size and ability to control an element of Arcana each, they were fierce creatures to fight. However, these creatures were also wise and kind, and they convinced the many races to cease their wars, leading to the Third Age, the Age of Peace. This was the first time in nearly 700 years that there was peace. The first year was 0 YOP, when all the nations and kingdoms agreed to peace. Any years before that were referred to according to age, with years in the Second Age referred to as 0 AOD, and years in the First Age referred to as 0 FA.
With the peace, many races began mingling with each other, resulting in the creation of many inter-race species. We currently live in the year 220 YOP, where tensions between the different kingdoms and races are rising, and war is imminent.
The First Age was from 0 FA to 300 FA, leading to the Second Age at 0 AOD, which ended in the year 800 AOD. Finally, the Age of Peace began in the first year of 0 YOP and continues to the present day.
