Western Settlement: Thornhaven

Located closer to Valoria, Thornhaven is a heavily palisaded settlement surrounded by dense, thorny thickets that serve as both a natural barrier and a constant reminder of the encroaching wilderness. The village is a center for timber harvesting and the production of protective charms. The entire settlement is is good repair but void of life for a town of this size. The houses, barracks, Inn and temples could all accommodate more residents then are currently seen.

• Key Features:
• The Angels Wing Inn: The center of life and main hub for communications, the Inn houses the few travelers passing through and sees most residents daily.
• The Thornwood Palisade: Tall wooden walls reinforced with iron spikes and barbs, constructed from the surrounding thorny trees.
• The Witchwood Sanctum: A small shrine and workshop operated by a circle of hedge witches and herbalists. They create charms, potions, and poultices that are traded across Caliban.
• The Timberwright’s Hall: A bustling hub for woodworkers and artisans who craft sturdy goods from the dark wood harvested nearby.
• The Lumber Mill: just outside of the settlement is a lumber mill which processes the wood harvested from the surrounding forest.
• The Barracks: There is a large barracks against the southern wall of Thornhaven. They appear to be able to house a much larger garrison than is currently manning the settlement walls.
• Challenges:
  The surrounding thickets teem with hostile creatures, and the settlers must contend with attacks from both mundane predators and magical beings. Tales of the forest “coming alive” with creeping vines and shadowy figures have left the villagers wary. The settlement, while in good repair is a shadow of its former self. a fraction of its inhabitants remain, the Milita who patrol the walls work long hours and have little time for rest, the guard being well understaffed. There is a theme of dwindling life inside the settlement.
