Forza Crystal
Mechanics & Inner Workings
Mechanics-wise, a Forza Crystal is usually embedded into a specially built machine that can accept the crystal as a power source. For example, there can be a forge furnace be specially built to use a Forza Ruby Crystal instead of using coal or charcoal.
Every gem/crystal has its own specific purpose as well as output strength. For example, rubies are frequently used to power special forge furnaces. These Forza Crystal-powered furnaces can produce heat that can not only be hotter than a coal forge, but also produce heat in a more even form. All of the inner workings of these crystals are through the great works of Thorcester City's artificers, craftsmen, and wizards.
A well made Forza Crystal can last for a very long amount of time. For example, the crystals found in Forza engines are known to last around a year or two if the crystal was properly made and that the engine itself was properly treated. Cheap imitation crystals are, expectedly, far less reliable and/or powerful.
Manufacturing process
The crystal is first put through a process of magical infusions done by Thorcester City's top artificers and wizards. They are then polished and engraved by some expert craftsmen in order to designate the output of the crystal and what they can be used for. Every type of crystal varies in power output, but each one is usually used for specific purposes. The following lists the purposes for every type:
- White Quartz: General mechanical movement. Lowest power output, but also the cheapest.
- Ruby: Used for fire/heat production and has medium-high power output. More expensive than quartz, but not by too much.
- Garnet: Used for fire/heat production and has high-power output. More expensive than ruby crystals.
- Sapphire: Also used for mechanical movements. Greater power output when compared to Quartz. Around the same price as rubies.
- Opal: Can be used either as a mechanical movement generator or as a catalyst to increase an electrical input charge for a higher output. Slightly more expensive than sapphires.
- Emerald: Used to generate propulsion power for vehicles and some weapons. High power output and quite expensive.
- Amethyst: Can be used to generate either electricity or heat. Produces way more energy than a ruby would and can be too powerful for most machines. Very expensive.
- Diamond: Multi-use power source. Produces the greatest amounts of power and is also the most expensive of all Forza Crystals. Longest lifespan.
Significance
Ever since the first discovery/creation of the Forza Crystals, the entire world has been going through a major technological revolution. Forza Crystals allow many new machines to produce similar, if not greater amounts of energy and power. This made it so that more machines could be built in more places and certain machines that would've never been able to be made with natural energy. The machines then could be used to increase the production rates for seemingly anything from the most mundane tools to even some magical items.
A large batch of crystals after the "heat & meld" phase of production. They must be carefully separated from their sheets and be cut and enchanted some more before they become usable.
