Common Technology of Tynaria
Since the year 554 and the Time of Technology, many once niche or uncommon magical items and trinkets have become significantly more commonplace to see. While not exactly affordable to the everyday citizen, they are far from being only for rich nobles or lucrative adventurers. Some of the technology that can be readily found in the Forza-modernized world include, but aren't limited to:
- Advanced Sending Stones: These Sending Stones don't have the 24 hour recharge time. They are slightly larger, about the size of a human hand, and are usually powered via Forza crystal batteries. As such, they are not usually carried by people, but are rather mounted into dashboards, stations, and call booths. When not calling other booths or Sending Stones, the messages sent out are one-way. Additionally, Advanced Sending Stones can be tuned to designated "channels" so that only stones in said channel can receive messages. As such, usage beyond just receiving messages will require a bit more training.
- Forza Wagons/Automobiles: These marvels of magical engineering can move faster than any horse-drawn carriage, while also generally being far more comfortable. They are powered with specially made Forza Engines and require special liquid fuel to function. These automobiles are generally for rich folk, high-profile guilds and businesses, and well-off adventurers. Most major cities nowadays have taxi services using Forza wagons.
- Message Tablets: Wooden or tin tablets around the size of a piece of parchment or paper, these function as a cheaper alternative to sending stones. They are used to record a message, ranging from 50 to 200 words. These messages can be replayed or be overwritten via the inscribed sigils. Message Tablets last longer and are more durable than written words, while also being able to project transcripts on its face.
- Arcane Data Terminals: Also known as Runeslates or Crystal Consoles, these box-like contraptions are like an entire writer's desk crammed into single box. The slate "screen" projects texts, low-resolution illusions (similar to Prestidigitation), and can play small audio effects. Sending Stones and Message Tablets can be inserted into these contraptions for better reading, copying, or storing for later use. Typewriter keyboards are often connected to these terminals. These terminals are incredibly expensive and are only ever used in research labs, wizard towers, and university labs. They are also rather fragile and if these terminals take any damage, there's a chance that any stored information can become corrupted.
- Firearms: Firearms have greatly evolved since the first Sorcodian firearms started using cartridges in the early 400's. Most major weapon manufacturers have a capacity to build firearms en mass. While they are cheaper than they were over a century ago, owning a firearm is still considered a status symbol. Most militaries that use firearm technology still rely on single-shot or bolt action, and many of them only have designated platoons, rather than firearms being standard issue.
