Repairs and Replacements
General Physical Repairs: If your vehicle has taken some physical damage, the mechanics can repair them. The speed and price of the repairs is determined by how much damage the car has taken. General repairs cover things like brake-pads, busted windows, dents, battle damage, busted bumpers, among other general things.
Clutch Replacement: If the car is stalled too many times, the clutch may end up getting worn out too much and will need replacement. New clutches cost around 75gp.
Tires: Tires can be bought and fit on from the mechanics. Tires are charged at 25gp a piece.
Engine Repair: Repairing an engine can cost between 50gp-150gp, depending on the severity of the damages. A full replacement of an engine can cost over 250gp.
Oil Change: Every several thousand miles or so, the motor oil needs to be changed to make sure that the internal gears and pistons remain properly lubricated. Oil Changes cost 20gp and may take several hours.
Coolant Replacement: If your car's radiator coolant is running low, your engine may be at risk for overheating and breaking down. Coolant is sold at 8gp a bottle and can be administered by anyone.
Upgrades, Add-ons, etc.
Turbo-Charger: A forced-induction add-on that grants for more horsepower at the cost of increased fuel consumption. Costs 200gp to install.
Off-Road Tires: By changing the stock tires to off-road tires, your vehicle is much more suited to driving over rough terrain like gravel ground and damp grasslands. Your vehicle doesn't get a fuel penalty for driving on rough terrain. Full purchase and replacement costs 200gp.
Engine Upgrade: Upgrading your vehicle's engine is a costly investment, but it's the best way to increase horsepower. This may involve replacing the Forza crystal. Engine upgrades cost well over 500gp.
Independent Suspension: Most vehicles are built with live-axle suspension. While this type is cheap and decently effective, it does not guarantee the smoothest of rides and it certainly doesn't allow for the best turns over 30mph. Replacing them with independent suspension allows for easier vehicle-handling as well as just making the vehicle smoother to ride in. Costs 150gp for a replacement.
(Beta) Automatic Transmission: 99% of all vehicles seen on Darnolia is running with a manual transmission. If you have 1,000gp to spare, you can replace your manual transmission with an automatic. However, since this technology is barely even 2 months old, new unforeseen problems may arise. Automatic cars do not require a vehicle handling check to start up and they generally ride smoother.
Water Displacement Oil: A 1 pint flask of water displacement oil costs 1gp. It functions as a better lubricant than oil and isn't as flammable as oil. Use this on rusty or squeaky moving parts and it'll begin to move like new again. Always keep a flask of this in the glove box.
Motor Oil: Motor oil is 5gp for a 2-quart (4 pt) container. Motor oil is essential for allowing internal engine parts to be constantly lubricated and smoothly operated. Motor oil is just as flammable as lamp oil, but is better for the constant lubrication needed for engine gears. It's also because it's much more weather-resistent than lamp oil.
