Cahaisten
The country of Cahaisten is a country of two lifestlyes: Calm farming village life and strict military life. A defining trait of Cahaisten is that every single able-bodied citizen is required to serve in Cahaisten's military. Not doing so can result in said person becoming a social pariah and even getting deported. There are several things that outsiders should be wary of: Never disrespect the country's military, never underestimate a commoner, and never underestimate the defenses of a town.
Culture
Serving in the military is a major part of Cahaisten's culture. Every single person who is able-bodied must enlist in either the country's army or garrison forces and remain in service for at least 2 years. This requirement is due to the fact that many towns and cities in Cahaisten are prone to being raided by the many nearby orc and goblin tribes. Those who refuse to serve in the military for no good reason are made social pariahs and even become at risk for deportation.
Demography and Population
Cahaisten is a human-majority country, yet there are many other racial groups. These other racial groups also abide by the required military enlistment. Cahaisten is unique due to the fact that the country seems to have more dragonborn clans when compared to other countries. Many Cahaistins revere dragonborn as being strong, dutiful, and honorable. It's no surprise that many high ranking military officers in Cahaisten are dragonborn.
Less glamorously are the multitudes of orc and goblin camps that scatter Cahaisten's land. These monster camps are tough to control, as the monsters themselves reproduce like rabbits. When one camp is destroyed, another one pops out. This is why the citizens of Cahaisten are always on full alert and ready to fight whenever. The biggest reason as to why these monster camps always seem to pop in and out is mainly due to the mountain, Mt. Spitzen, being a huge burrow of orcs and goblinoids. The mountain tribes are far too numerous to be taken down by normal means and as such, can only be monitored so much.
Military
The military is a major part of Cahaisten. Its army and garrison forces are well known to be very formidable in numbers and power. Starting at age 21, all able-bodied citizens are required to serve for at least 2 years. Afterwards, they are granted a permit of keeping their government-issued weapons. Due to this military lifestyle, every single town is filled with battle-ready people, all at least decently armed. Its military rankings are, from lowest to highest, the following:
- Recruit
- Private
- Squad Leader
- Sergeant
- Captain
- Colonel
- Lieutenant
- General
- High General
Religion
Like many other places on Darnolia, Erlanism is the main religion of the country. Piety is far more of a thing that exists in the small towns and villages. In the military though, religion is frequently disregarded. The church allows this country's recognition of Erlanism as the primary religion because the country only uses its military power to defend themselves from attackers. Additionally, the church has established several guidelines on what the military and government is allowed to do before, during, and after a battle.
Ever since the turn o the 6th century, Erlanists began to quickly decline in numbers. Currently in the year 572, Erlanism has borderline disappeared from Cahaisten's population. Dragonborn clans have always followed their own deities from the beginning.
Foreign Relations
Cahaisten's government holds several ties with the countries of Cordomo and Valesco. Cordomo holds a very special top-secret hidden military within the church while Valesco's strong navy can be used to fend off threats that may be coming from afar across the seas.
Agriculture & Industry
Besides military life, farming life is the main chunk of Cahaisten's citizens. Thanks to constant rains, the grounds are perfect for mass farming. Towns and villages prioritize farming above all else. This is partly because a lot of the food is transported to the many military camps for soldiers to consume and sustain themselves with.
Trade & Transport
One reason why Cahaisten is so prone to monster raids is due to the country's relatively high abundance of precious materials such as gold, silver, gems, etc. Mining operations are carried out by those enlisted in the Cahaisten Army. Towns that may be particularly rich are especially prone to invasion.
