Churches and the Holy Grail

Ever since civilization was granted the Holy Grail by the gods in the first century, many churches have taken a sort of responsibility to understand and study the Holy Grail. This was often done by churches and temples that dedicated themselves to stereotypically "good" deities like Ilmater, Lathander, Selûne, etc. This was due to the fact that the first 3 centuries had the Grail be used to maintain peace across the world. Oftentimes, whenever a Holy Grail would descend down to an area, the local churches would be invited to mediate and oversee the process to make sure that the Grail would not be misused.   This of course changed in the year 350, when the Holy Grail was corrupted into an artifact that mandated a war every half-century. The Grail was quickly turned into the complete opposite of its original intentions. With that, many of the original churches withdrew their studies of the Grail. But if it's a war the Grail demanded every 50 years, then the torch of research was merely to be passed on. Churches of the domain of war began to not only resume studying about the Grail, but becoming a sort of participant in the Holy Grail Wars as overseers.   During Holy Grail Wars, priests of war-revolved gods like Tempus, Tyr, Torm, and others oversaw the events that unfolded. An unofficial coalition would give rise to temples that worshipped the "everlasting wars." This was, after all, under their scope of expertise. Not only did these churches oversee the wars, but they would shelter those who could no longer participate in the war, be it due to injuries or forfeit. It was guarenteed that those taking shelter and rest under the jurisdiction of a church would face no harm from other participating fighters.
