Pelathin

The Father Who Provides

Also known as Taranan and Odul. It is contested whether or not Pelathin is begotten of Gri'sai a god of Sunlight, or a mortal man brought to apotheosis by Gi Matera. However, many practices in honor of Odul and Taranan mimic that of ancient druidic rites still practiced in the Scorched-Reach regions.   Pelathin is not a god that should be seen as weak, despite being the patron god of those who labors and till the land. In fact, as Odul, he is viewed more as a war god, defending his home and family from invaders. He is recognized as the judge who decides who gets to eat and drink after a long, hard day and who will be without anything. Drought is the anger of Pelathin, and famines are his hounds.   Tales of Pelathin say that at the beginning of winter, he must journey into the realms below to negotiate terms with the elements for the weather of the next harvest season. During this, Algola, Mistress Winter, initiates her hunts & trials during his absence.

It took six days and six nights for him to cultivate a relationship with Gi Matera, and it took him six days and six nights to drain the great flood created by An Swin, the jealous sky god and spurned ex-husband of Gi Matera, in an effort to wipe out Pelathin's fields and cities.
