The School of Primal Arcanum represents the very essence of magic, drawing power from the ancient, foundational energies of Tumna. Wizards who walk this path don't just study magic; they become one with its core fabric, connecting with the deity Ulus on a profound level. To be initiated into this most sacred school, one must adhere to one of Ulus's religions: Angshire Spirits, Path of Ulus, Ulus Beliefs, or Ulusian Heresy, affirming a bond with the very essence of arcane mastery.
Becoming a Primal Arcanist means diving deep into the origins of spellcraft, seeking to harness the raw, undiluted magic that existed at the dawn of Tumna. They are seers and prophets, drawing upon the wisdom of Ulus to glimpse the tapestry of fate and the intertwining threads of arcane energy that shape the world.
Arcane Origins
Starting at 2nd level, tap into primal magic. When you cast a spell, you can mark a spot or object within range, making it a beacon for your magic. You can cast spells targeting the mark, regardless of distance, while on the same plane. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Intelligence modifier (minimum once), regaining all uses after a long rest.
Ulus' Insight
At 6th level, your bond with
Ulus bestows upon you fragments of foreknowledge. As a reaction, gain advantage on one attack roll, saving throw, or ability check. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Intelligence modifier (minimum once), regaining all uses after a long rest, and when you roll initiative with no uses left, regain one use.
Rune Mastery
Upon reaching 10th level, your understanding of the fundamental symbols of magic becomes unparalleled. During a short or long rest, you can inscribe runes equal to your Intelligence modifier (minimum once) on surfaces or objects. When touched by a creature or under a condition you specify when creating it, the rune activates, replicating a spell you know of 5th level or lower without expending a spell slot. Once all runes are used, you must finish a long rest before you can inscribe new ones.
Weaver of Prophecies
At 14th level, you can call upon
Ulus to weave magic into a prophecy. Once per long rest, over the course of 10 minutes, you can cast a ritual that provides you with a cryptic vision about an event within the next seven days. The vision can be a puzzle, a metaphor, or a direct glimpse, but always pertains to significant events that could change the course of your or your allies' paths.
Primal Infusion
Also at 14th level, your bond with the primal energies grants you the ability to empower your spells. Once per long rest, when you cast a spell, you can choose to infuse it with the raw energy of Tumna, making the spell's effects more potent. The spell's damage increases by one die, and its duration, if applicable, is doubled. If the spell requires a saving throw, the DC is increased by 2.
