Chergathar Faith

Type: Organized Polytheism
Form: Spirituality focused
Supreme Deity: Chergathar, The Pure
Origins: Stemming from the direct teachings and manifestations of Chergathar.   The Chergathar Faith is a rich and organized belief system centered around Chergathar, The Pure. Predominantly, it celebrates the soul's journey, viewing life and death as cycles of existence intertwined in an eternal dance. The faith acknowledges Chergathar as the weaver of these spirits, guiding them from birth, through life, and eventually, leading them through death. Over time, the Chergathar Faith has become one of the most prominent religions in Tumna, spreading its teachings far and wide. The faith's grand temples, known as Soulhaven Monasteries, can be found in various parts of the continent, serving as places of solace, reflection, and worship.

Soulhaven Monasteries

Soulhaven Monasteries, often referred to as the heart of the Chergathar Faith, are serene sanctuaries where believers gather to honor Chergathar, The Pure. Characterized by their architectural beauty and spiritual energy, these monasteries are typically situated near graveyards, symbolizing the close bond between life and death. These peaceful places serve not just as temples, but also as bridges connecting the realm of the living with that of the departed.   Central to every Soulhaven Monastery is the Chamber of Reflection. This room is meticulously designed for meditation and introspection, providing an atmosphere conducive to spiritual exploration. The subtle yet invigorating aroma of incense wafts through the air, aiding in the transcendental journey of the soul. Ethereal music, believed to be inspired by the melodies of the spirit realm, resonates in the background, further elevating the ambiance of these chambers.   But the monasteries are more than just places of worship. They are also centers of community, education, and healing. Elders and spiritual leaders offer teachings, share tales of Chergathar's wisdom, and provide guidance to those in need. Many come to the monasteries in times of personal turmoil, seeking solace and answers in the comforting embrace of Chergathar's teachings. It's no wonder that these monasteries are regarded as bastions of peace, love, and spiritual enlightenment in the world of Tumna.

Mythology & Lore

At the heart of the Chergathar Faith lies the legend of the Book of Souls. It's said that Chergathar, in her boundless wisdom, records every spirit's life journey in this tome. Each soul has its own page, detailing its past, present, and glimpses of the future. Every significant event, choice, and transformation is inscribed by Chergathar herself, ensuring no soul's story goes untold.

Divine Origins

The Chergathar Faith traces its roots back to the dawn of Tumna. It's believed that as Chergathar shaped the spirits and breathed life into them, the earliest followers began to worship her, captivated by her power over the soul. These initial followers, primarily spiritualists, formed the foundation of what would grow to be a massive organized religion. Their stories, experiences, and teachings were passed down, forming the rich tapestry of the Chergathar Faith we know today.

Tenets of Faith

  1. All spirits hold a key; their path is the map's legend.
  2. Living and the beyond are mere chapters; dread neither tale.
  3. Cherish the ones in eternal slumber; they've danced the dance of timelessness.

Common Translation
  1. Every soul is sacred, and its journey is of paramount importance.
  2. Life and death are but phases of existence; neither is to be feared.
  3. Respect the dead and honor their memory, for they've completed the cycle of their journey.

Ethics

Followers of the Chergathar Faith believe in living a life of compassion, empathy, and understanding. They're taught to value the soul over the material, focusing on inner growth and spiritual fulfillment. Lying, theft, and violence are viewed as corruptions of the soul, and followers are encouraged to seek penance for such acts, ensuring their souls remain pure for their next journey.

Worship

Worship in the Chergathar Faith revolves around reflection, meditation, and connection with the spirit. Believers gather in Soulhaven Monasteries, where they participate in ethereal music sessions, guided meditations, and collective prayers. Special ceremonies are held to honor the departed, where stories of their lives are shared, and their contributions celebrated.

Sects

Varocism emerged from the depths of Tumna's underground chambers - Forgeheart Crucibles, where dazzling natural treasures lay hidden for eons. Ancient civilizations, upon discovering these marvels, felt an irresistible pull towards Varoc, the deity they believed showered these underground blessings upon the land.   Where Chergathar Faith focused on the eternal cycle of souls and the ethereal aspects of existence, Varocism rooted itself in the tangible treasures of the Earth. The spectacular underground temples dedicated to Varoc became pilgrimage sites, drawing not just Varocism believers but also the followers of Chergathar.   The merging of some elements from the Chergathar Faith into Varocism was more than just an integration of symbols and rituals; it symbolized the convergence of two perspectives - the spiritual journey of the soul and the earthly marvels that shaped one's life. While Chergathar represented the cycle of life and death, Varoc symbolized the riches that life on Tumna could offer.   This amalgamation of beliefs solidified the bond between the followers of both faiths. Many Chergathar believers, upon setting foot in Varoc's underground temples, felt a deeper connection to the Earth element, one of the many they worshipped. They began to view Varoc as an extension or manifestation of Chergathar's teachings about the Earth.   The resulting religious tapestry was a beautiful mix, with Varocism practices being enriched by Chergathar's spiritual insights. This synergy led to an era of peace and cooperation, where both faiths thrived, influencing each other and promoting mutual understanding.
