"I confess that we know little of things long ago. Scholars today do tend to cover the gaps in their knowledge with clever phrases. For example, we tend to use the word ‘Age’ to cover a great span of time, yet what I can tell you about the oldest Ages couldn’t even fill up my hand! It’s useful for perspective, however, so I have included a brief list of Ages. I ought to note that each region seems to insist on their own way of reckoning the Ages. We all know, of course, that a year is 360 days long, and can easily be split up into ten months that begins at the Spring Equinox (Ourune, Eilune, Ynune, Daivune, Saevune, Iustune, Lostune, Viyune, Avune, Cathune), each with four weeks divided into nine days. If only we could be so united about which event to mark the history with! I will use the way of reckoning that centers on the Empire’s Fall. Thus, BE (Before Empire) and AEF (After Empire’s Fall)."
