The Truce of Manscinium
The Truce of Manscine was signed between the, then, Emperor of Manscine and the fledgling Manscinium Republic. After the sacking of the city and its abandonment by its own Empire and Emperor, the City found itself abandoned. The city, stuck between two sides of a war, decided to try and rule itself. The first step it took toward independence was to approach the Emperor and sign this truce. The terms, while complicated and many facetted and discussing a great deal of economical, diplomatic and military nuance essentially boiled down to an agreement to maintain neutral relations, to guarantee the independence of the city and provide military support in return for continued trade and the return of some of the Emperors land and possessions that had been claimed by the city.
While the treaty was originally signed and written on paper, mages created four copies, one sits in each nation's (The Imperial Kingdom and The Manscinium Republic) government palaces, another was given to The Manscine Church, enshrining their right to the City of Three Fates and a final one was given to a master craftsman who formed it into a statue and plaque in metal to be commemorated forever with the treaty entombed and sealed within the monument as the Republic saw the signing of that treaty as the start of their independence and freedom as a sovereign nation.
