Ithanil
For the Daemon's eyes were of the darkest, coldest fires.Ithanil is the mysterious evil that the Lord Himself defeated some odd 600 native years ago. Its exact nature is highly debated, as the descriptions surrounding it are inconsistent, vague, and often confusing. It is most commonly referred to as a "Daemon" which does little to clarify. While depictions of this evil are considered wildly taboo, they have been manufactured by theological fanatics. Among them too there are wild inconsistencies, though they often opt for some form of formless, ambiguous form of nothingness, no doubt influenced by the Inkbeasts. It has become common acceptance that the Inks and Inkbeasts by extension are connected to Ithanil in some way. However, there is no mention of this in the holy texts. Interestingly, nor does it show any evidence of the
Divine Domains
Ithanil, in the common practice of the imperial religion, is seen as a sort of mirror to the Lord. Its metaphysical place in the universe is one of opposition, malevolence, falsehood, and destruction. However, by the evidence found in the scriptures, particularly the Palisases, it can be surmised that the powers of Ithanil were of similar magnitudes and domains of what the Lord Himself is capable of.
However, one point of interest may be that before the incarnation of the Lord in his mortal yet divine form, the Daemon was the unchallenged overlord of the mortal realm. As such some scholars have theorized that Ithanil was originally a deity of the earth, of the mortal realm, while the Lord oversaw more metaphysical aspects of the universe. This would however imply that the Lord Himself was an intruder, an invader. While an apt excuse was given, that the Lord had liberated the mortal world of its greatest peril, and thus deserved eternal worship. Nonetheless, some, most notably Stochastiel the Fool, found themselves in the Cracks for blasphemy.
