Kàliya Nà
I grew up in the Nāshue colony of Tritus. I began my pilgrimage at 16 to master creation magic and ended up in the human empire looking for a master. I was born to a upper middle class family of Nāshue (50-65% primality), the Nā family. I can transform in and out of a snake body (about 20 ft long and orange with blue eyes). When in my human body, a faint outline of scales and orange tint is visible (it is slight enough to seem like a tan). I have slit eyes and a forked tongue at all times. My hair is long and orange. I stand only about 5’5 tall in my human body. There is a scar on my stomach in the shape of a flame, the result of an injury from falling on a fireplace poker when I was younger, discovering my abilities (I transformed into a snake while standing straight up instead of leaning or lying down, then collapsed and injured myself). I wear four rings on my right hand. The first is a gold ring with a large diamond from my grandmother, the second a silver ring with an emerald from my great-aunt, the third a thin platinum band with two small rubies (I won’t say who it is from), and the fourth a rose gold band with a pearl that matches one my sister wears.
I have been trained in creation magic from a young age by a personal tutor paid for by my parents. There is a lack of an emotional bond to most of my family due to the solitary nature of snakes, but I have incredible loyalty and pride for my family. My strongest familial bond is to an identical twin sister, Mansā Devi Nā. We were formerly conjoined. At birth we were separated by destruction magic but are still connected by mana.
The purpose of my pilgrimage is to bring more honor to the family, in any way possible. I have always wanted to study creation magic to the point of mastery and intend to honor my family in this way. I take after my ancestors, particularly my grandmother and her twin sister, who were born in the same way my sister and I were, in that I am very magically inclined and proficient from a younger age than usual. My intentions on my pilgrimage are (allegedly) to simply learn more about creation magic, but secretly I intend to learn enough about all three kinds of magic that I may destroy the primality system so that my family can establish a dynasty. This idea was cultivated in me and Mansā because we were the first conjoined twins in two generations. A prophecy said that the second pair of twins born in two generations would achieve the dynasty. Our grandmother and great-aunt groomed us from a young age to be the members of the Nā family who would finally achieve the dynasty. Mansā is staying home, allegedly because she has issues with magic that she needs to work on more before her pilgrimage may be undertaken but actually because she is slowly changing the minds of other lower ranking families to believe that the Nā is the most superior family to rule the Nāshue.
I have not had many friends and I have never been in a relationship. I am very coarse and crass when I’m not at home but I am incredibly respectful when I am at home.
