A Spire Amongst The Thorns - 4 Report
General Summary
Spider Fight
As the giant spider materializes and charges towards the party, they scatter and unleash a united barrage of attacks towards the almost translucent white and blue beast. Fulgur's lighting blast misses and destroys one of the curtain stands causing reams of heavy curtain to fold and tumble to the ground, exposing the bed chamber behind it. Bullets whiz from Forgin's direction and arrows from Gladwyn as Rorra coordinates the group with a rallying cry. The reunited collective of Dosa scampered up on Euric's back and unleashed a volley of tiny, needle-like arrows of which a few managed to sink into exposed spider-flesh and the monstrous creature gave a mighty screech of rage. Dodging a stream of webbing launched by the spider, Euric made a mighty swing with his scythe but, slightly unbalanced by his rodent passengers, missed the mark and found the scythe stuck tight in a cluster of webs. However, the giant spider that seemed to pulse with ethereal energy was no match for the party's onslaught. However, as the beast fell dead, two more swarms of spiders and two unnaturally large wolf spiders dropped in from the webs above to flank the group. Abandoing his stuck sytche, Euric leapt into the fray with his knives and eventually resorting to stamping his many feet to try to eradicate one of the swarms. Dosa lept to his aid, brandishing tiny swords and stabbing at the swarming arachnids. Fulgur had trouble hitting anything and then dove to rescue his robotic ally who had gotten caught up in some webs. Forgin and their robotic pet as well as Gladwyn turned to focus on the wolf spiders as they harassed the white-fleshed constructs that had wandered over to observe the melee. The constructs began to dance, first as a means of apparent self-defense but then with continued and increased vigor as they seemed to simply enjoy it. Rorra, satisfied that she had bolstered the team through the most frightening foe, decided to take matters into her own talons which suddenly began seeping with an unnatural venom as she flew over of the second swarm, raking the spiders with devastating poisoned strikes. Although the arachnids countered with ferocity, they were no match for the party especially with their aerial superiority. As the final wolf spider collapsed and rigor mortis set in, the party became aware of the giant, translucent spider corpse becoming more transparent by the second until it momentarily phased out of sight altogether. Over the next minute or so, they watched the spider phase in and out view multiple times, each time appearing in a more and more decomposed state, until finally all that remained was a synthetic looking device seemingly styled after a 3D visualization of a tesseract, that pulsed with the same blue, ethereal light the the spider had. Collecting this strange object, the party also noticed signs of a prior, possibly explosive, confrontation further down the hall that had wiped out most of the webbing in the area leading up to a door in the chamber's central column.
