General Physical Condition
Perfin is reaching the end of his life, and his largely given up on the idea of keeping in shape. In addition to his advancing years, he is also a little overweight. A lifetime of staring at books has left him quite nearsighted.

Personal history
Perfin's parents (Lily and Samuel) were amongst the first to travel to what is now Chirin when the shelter was opened to the outside world. Unlike many of their kin, Perfin's parents had fully assimilated with the humans of the shelter and had abandoned many of the halfling traditions including their traditional surname. Forsaking the halfling traditions led to a rift between Perfin's parents and most of the other halflings so Perfin frequently found himself the only halfing amongst groups of human, shifter, and dragonborn children.
Far smaller than the others Perfin found it hard to keep up with others and began spending more time reading than playing with other children. His father (a talented wizard) and mother (a well regarded sage) were pleased to see their son's interest in books and encouraged him to expand the range of his reading.
Perfin never developed an inclination to follow in his father's trade as a wizard, and instead focused on following his mother in becoming a loremaster. As being a loremaster tends to pay only occassionally, Perfin also learned from his mother about how to make ink, copy text neatly, and take tracings of drawings. He helped Lily in setting up The Right Corner in South Gate, and was her assistant until she died in 103.
As an adult, Perfin reconnected with the halfling community, though he chose to keep his human style surname. He married Tabitha Greenhill and has two children, Fagin and Dorset.
Perfin continues to the run The Right Corner as a bookshop, but also sells information to adventuring groups, Chirin Council, and any others needing research done. He has seen less work from the council since Bowin Gableson arrived in Chirin, and there is a friendly rivallry between the two.
Education
Though he has no formal education, Perfin studied a wide variety of topics with his parents and is exceptionally well read. He has mastered all of the civilised languages, and can read several dead ones. His knowledge of arcane lore is exceptional for a non-spellcaster
