The Ancients
The Ancients are the precursors of the Denironians. They are believed to have lived on a different planet before traveling across the galaxy and discovering Denironia. Very little is known about them aside from what is passed down through Denironian legend.
History
The Ancients discovered and settled on Denironia sometime around 9000 BPC. It is unknown where in the Janya Galaxy they originally came from. Some historians believe they may have known or been related to the Rhyhendra, an extinct sentient species whose history is lost. Considering the warlike nature of the Denironians who are descended from them, it is possible they knew the Rhyhendra during the lost species' violent tribal era. When the Ancients settled on Denironia, they spent a period of exactly 252 years exploring the planet and beginning to build cities. This time period is known as the Conquest of Ancients, or CA in Denironian timelines. Denironia's atmosphere changed the Ancients, warping and evolving them into the Denironians. Little is known about what these changes truly were. The Ancients could very well be nearly indistinguishable from the Denironians of today, leaving them to be categorized as an ethnicity of the Denironian species. The greatest contributions the Ancients made to Denironian culture (aside from obviously arriving on Denironia, conquering it, and their obsession with war) were the creation of their own calendar, the Denironian Calendar, and the creation of the Denironian religion, a polytheistic religion centered on a pantheon of dozens of gods and accompanied by hundreds of legends. Both of these contributions occurred on Denironia itself. Some believe the seeds of the Denironian religion come from the stories of Celestials, despite the majority of Celestial legends originating after the Ancients had already arrived on Denironia.Remove these ads. Author's Notes
I wrote this for the Elves vs. Aliens challenge, but unfortunately, I missed the deadline by way too many hours thanks to travel. But I think it's pretty good despite being written while mostly on the road or in a hotel room.
