Skip Drive

The Skip Drive uses some principles of the Jump Drive, but instead of entering Jump Space, the ship "skips" along the boundary between normal space and jump space. This allows for extremely rapid changes in velocity with a very small change in position. The core of the Skip Drive is Doped Boron, a substance that allows for programmatic controlled fusion, allowing very precise control of the velocity and position of the ship following engagement of the drive. The downside is, the Doped Boron must be prepared specifically for a given mission, a process which involves months of laborious preparation and testing to prepare a fuel supply.
