Personal history
Ryul grew up in a small seashore town, where the locals knew his mother as only a humble healer. They lived a peaceful existence; well loved and respected until the worst storm in living memory threatened their home.
A 10 year old Ryul found his mother wading into the sea alone, her body shimmering with an unearthly light. Struggling to the point of exhaustion, he found himself helpless as the waves and wind consumed her. Almost immediately after, the storm subsided leaving no trace of his mother behind. He awoke on the shore of his father’s people; a tribe of war-like wood elves.
He spent the next several decades training in the art of combat. But his father’s tribesmen frequently treated the half-elf with cold distain. His right of passage consisted of single combat. During which Ryul was compelled to kill his opponent, (the son of a noble who thought to rid their people of the half-blood scourge once and for all). Ryul was then exiled from his father’s tribe. Working as a sword-for-hire, he would except contracts only from those he felt that were working towards a greater good
