The Tir Pyramid

The Tomb of Lebalos's Past

Located in Lebalos, this grand tomb, dedicated to the Gnomish Grand Duchess Welza Tir, is one of the largest and most visible structures in the entire Uncharted Desert.

The Great Pyramid

Beginning construction in -778, the Tir Pyramid was primarily built by Emetian immigrants who had moved to the city under Tir's reign. It was not completed until -727, and in the years between it had become controversial, with some Grand Dukes and Duchesses wishing to stop construction, as it was seen as less of a monument to her and more a vanity project of Emetians wishing to "take over" Lebalos. There is no evidence that this was anything more than unfounded fear and prejudice on behalf of the Secci Gnomes who made up the majority population of Lebalos, but whatever the case, the Pyramids were completed and became the symbol of the city itself. When most think of Lebalos, they think of the Tir Pyramids.   In -458, the relics and bodies were emptied out of the Tir Pyramid, with it becoming a government building instead. Some say treasures still reside below, hidden by the rulers of Lebalos so that no citizen may ever find them.   It has since become the central hub of government in Lebalos, housing the Grand Duke or Duchess and being the location of all meetings involving them and other government officials.   Tourism in the pyramids is very limited, with only a select number of curated rooms available to the public on guided tours. Conspiracy theories believe that there is some deep, dark secret hidden away in the places that no one is allowed to go, with Secci Gnomes insisting it is some Emetian secret, while a more prominent theory is some secret society meets up beneath the Tir Pyramid in the secret rooms, plotting to rule the world.

Welza Tir

Appointed Grand Duchess in -851, Welza Tir was one of the most popular rulers of Lebalos, and is likely the most famous Secci Gnome in history.   While she was known for many great acts, her most controversial (and likely most well-known) act was listening to the Lebalos Open Border Project, an Emetian and Detser Gnome movement begging for their people to be allowed to live in Lebalos.   Welza Tir was an ally to the Emetian and Detser people during her reign, championing their rights and helping bolster their towns out in the eastern regions of the Uncharted Desert.   She passed away in -779, with one of her final actions in power being a meeting with Kilprax Ildial the year before.

Other Pyramids

Inspired by the Tir Pyramid, other pyramids have since been built in Lebalos and around the desert. A few other pyramids honoring Grand Dukes and Duchesses were built beside the Tir Pyramid (though nowhere near the size of Welza's monument). A Priest of the Goddess Sia went rogue in the year 547, building a golden pyramid in protest of the Goddess. This pyramid is believed to be empty, and few can find it, as it was hidden in a mirage by the God of Secrets, Mimir.
