Buried or No?

There is a tough decision made any time a student or faculty member dies and qualifies to be buried in the Magic College Graveyard   This decision is whether they should be buried there. Some have homes, and families who wish to bury them near those homes. Others may find it an honor to have their bodies in the Magic College Graveyard.   Due to this, instead of burying some bodies, many graves instead are jsut tombstones with nothing beneath them. There is no cohesive list of which bodies are buried there and which aren't.   All that is known is some bodies were unable to be recovered, and some were reclaimed by family.

Some believe it to be unethical to bury the bodies of students in the school that caused their death. Others say it is a high honor. It depends who is asked.   However, 64th Grand Wizard Salasar Feaphed has justified it with some simple justifications.
Grand Wizard Salasar Feaphed by Jarhed
"We don't want to bury our students. We hope that they will go on to do great things. However, the graveyard serves as a reminder. Not to the students, but to the faculty, and especially the Grand Wizard, that we can do better. That we need to save these kids. And for the kids... it's a symbol that they've made it this far, and they've got a future ahead of them. That's why we keep the graveyard."
— Salasar Feaphed

History

This was not, however, why the graveyard was created. Tobor Tuldad, the 2nd Grand Wizard, made a small memorial plaque for students who died in the war that allowed him to become Grand Wizard. This was to make people who were unhappy with his appointment at least complacent, that he at least was honoring the fallen.   It was Nawunax Valdacmith, the 5th Grand Wizard, who changed this to a graveyard. As a necromancer, he wanted a supply of corpses he could use to fight, and found no better choice than the student body who perished while they were studying at his school. He justified it as honoring the fallen, but had much more suspicious motives. Everyone knew it, but even the man who stood against him, Nyaldual Nurdesh, could do nothing about it.   Ever since then, the graveyard has remained in the Magic College, with more graves added every year. And always a question asked: Is there any way the Magic College can become a safe learning environment where its students will never need to fear dying?   The most likely answer is... no.
