Galyian Revolution
"You would destroy your own people to destroy your enemies." He scowled. "We do not want you in our estate, we do not want you in our lands." He had to raise his voice to be heard over the growing furore outside... The calls for retreat were loud and panicked; they had not been expecting resistance, especially of such calibre. But they could scarcely be heard over the roars of the rebels. "For freedom! For honour! For the green hills!"
The Conflict
Prelude
The Galyians were never happy with their annexation, but having been taken over in a time of extreme weakness there was little they could do. However, with most of the fighting against the Worldbreaker taking part around Avendire with the Empire forces soundly turned away by the Gauntlets, it became clear that the Empire's grip was not as strong as they wanted to make it seem. And the heroes were on Galiya's side.
Battlefield
The largest battles and casualties were in the streets and surroundings of Llyn Loinnir, where the seat of power for Galiya lies. There was also fierce clashes at the border patrols between Galiya and the Empire countries. However, most of the fighting took place in a guerilla style across the entirety of the country.
Conditions
The country was heavily entrenched in snow and rain when the fighting started. This was usual weather for many of the locals, but the Empire soldiers struggled to fight in the conditions.
The Engagement
The confusion of the attacks and the mounting casualties forced the Empire forces to retreat nine times out of ten until they eventually conceded and returned governance of the country back to its rightful owners.
Outcome
All Empire officials and soldiers left the country. Citizens who had immigrated were given a few weeks to decide whether they wanted to stay or leave. A descendant of the line of kings was found and a council and government formed.
Aftermath
Yet to be fully realised. However, there is a quiet rumbling amongst many other annexed nations; if they could do it, why not us? Especially since the Gauntlets, saviours of the world and previous darlings of the Empire, openly supported the rebellion. Maybe the Empire is not as strong as we thought. Maybe we don't have to do as they say...
Historical Significance
Legacy
The most important thing to have come of the revolution is the realisation that it is possible to defy the Empire and survive. Already the mocking songs are spreading of the Emperor quivering in his gilted towers.
Technological Advancement
This series of battles also cemented the use of firearms in pitched battles instead of just a nobleman's hobby or an adventurer's weapon.
