Burly

Burly is a towering, broad-shouldered bugbear with a surprisingly cozy, almost whimsical look despite his intimidating frame. His head is encased in a carved pumpkin helmet, the jagged eyes and mouth giving a fearsome silhouette but the rest of him betrays a gentler nature.

On the grass around his feet, a few more books are scattered suggesting he’s more likely to spend his day reading than raiding. His sturdy brown shoes and relaxed posture complete the picture: a creature built for intimidation, but far more at home in a library than on a battlefield.

He wears worn blue overalls stretched over his large, furry form, patched in places from use. His thick, tawny fur covers his powerful arms and legs, but instead of brandishing weapons. Steel bracers hug his wrists, adding a hint of rugged readiness.

Burly and his brother, Hurly, joined the carnival as youngsters. Hurly disappeared a few months ago, and search parties failed to locate him. Mister Witch and Mister Light convinced Burly to stay with the carnival afterward, rather than continue the search on his own. When he’s not straining at some feat of athleticism, he’s reading books of poetry.

He's in charge of setting up and breaking down The Witchlight Carnival and does so with incredible strength. When he's not called elsewhere, he's in charge of guarding the wagons in the Staff Area.

Even though Burly is in charge of many physical tasks at the carnival, he feels most at home in performing. Sadly, he's too shy to appear on the big stage without wearing his pumpkin.

Burly is a shy man and therefore can be flustered easily, especially around Madrigal (of) Kirin.
