Tiamat's Rise to power on the Sword Coast
The fall of the Sword coast
As time passed, the cultists, the Red Wizards of Thay, the Star Spawn and the Nagpa all worked together to bring back Tiamat in a temple they built in the Great Cauldera SW of the Anaroch Dessert. They were successful and then all hell broke loose upon the Sword coast.
Dragons of all colors came out in force against the inhabitants of every city on the Sword coast. Another temple had been made for Tiamat in the Star Mountains in the middle of the High Forest so she could oversee her new domain. Massive battles were held in the Moors between Giants and Dragons attempting to keep the destruction away from major cities. Elves, Dwarves and men of all types joined in.
Nobody knows for sure all the details of the early battles, but everyone knows the results. The dragons won and then the cities began to fall. Like the Giants, the Metallic Dragons were mostly wiped out and any that may have survived have fled. The Dragons chose a few Cities to make examples of and utterly destroyed: Luskan, Gauntlgrym, Mirabar, Hawk’s Nest and Daggerford. Then they took over Neverwinter, Silerymoon, Everlund and Waterdeep.
The fall of Waterdeep
Most of the Cities fell the same way. Usually the cultists and star Spawn would reveal themselves inside a city and begin open battle in the streets. The city protectorate would be called and then cultists within the protectorate would suddenly reveal themselves and there would be mass chaos. That’s when the dragons would come. Usually 3. For Waterdeep, about 9 months ago, it was Old Snarl himself, Klauth the red dragon, Thos the black and Juntix the Green. Each destroying a piece of Waterdeep and converging on Blackstaff tower. Vajra and here Gray Hands did what they could but eventually she resorted to breaking her blackstaff over her knee blowing up the top of the tower. Unfortunately, it didn’t kill the dragons and they destroyed the rest of the tower and all the Gray Hands with it.
Every faction, every guild, every temple seemed to have been infiltrated by the cultists. Even some of the city nobles. Those who wouldn’t bow the knee and pay tribute were killed or worse.
Thoss the black dragon hung around Waterdeep for a time while the City leadership were killed or forced to obey. Abishai, Dragon Cultists, Star Spawn run everything and if you disobey you are fed to the dragon.
With the fall of the cities and the armies protecting the realms of Men, Dwarves and Elves, the evil creatures from the Underdark began to take advantage of the situation. The Elves and remaining dwarves have joined forces even with the Drow to help quell their advance.
There is little hope left in the hearts of the citizens of the Sword coast. Spencarean learned that his parents are most likely dead along with Most of the Lizardfolk in the Lizard Marsh and many other allies they once had such as Jarlaxle.
