Outer Toresta

No more than 5000 people total inhabit Outer Toresta. This includes families and children. Most are either human or Halfling. All are farmers. This does not count the members of the Overwatch, who all live in Toresta itself.

Outer Toresta is under the authority of Toresta's duke.

The Dividing Wall, a forty foot tall, five mile long structure, keeps the creatures and monsters of the Wild out of the farmland. The wall itself is a forty foot tall structure constructed using dwarven building techniques, it is forty feet wide at the base and between ten and twenty feet wide at the top. The wall was constructed using a tamped earth core, faced by dwarven hewn stone and brick. Defensive towers are built every mile or so with communication towers using everbright lanterns and solar mirrors. A road runs along the wall top allowing for the quick movement of troops between the towers.

The wall is staffed by members of the Overwatch. Its purpose is not to prevent invasion, merely to keep out the wild creatures. More than dwarven stone and mortar defends Toresta. Strong layline backed magic provides a barrier to the Wilds.

Farming is the purpose of Outer Toresta's existence. Much food is still imported to the city, but the local farms provide the city's staple.

A single paved road goes from the Dividing Gate to the Entering Bridge. Various dirt roads link the farms. Fresh water comes from wells, and various magical devices help with both rain and growth. A few farmers are practitioners themselves. The Danilov Leyline transects Outer Toresta's farmland. More than one farmer knows how to tap it.

Outer Toresta's rolling farmland is fertile. The water table is not especially deep and rainfall is adequate, even in the absence of weather magic.

Grain is produced in abundance. Sheep graze on the rolling hills and farmers keep pig, chickens and cows.
