Jueng Plain
The Jueng Plain, with the Melazain Forest collectively called "The Wilds," is a vast prairie region dominated by grasses and herbaceous plants. Its primary dominant species is the dinosaur.
Geography
The Jueng Plain is a vast grassland next to the Oscare Ocean. It borders the Monteplane Peninsula, and separates it from the Melazain Forest to the north. The Lackley River runs out of the Melazain Forest and cuts a winding path through the Plain, eventually depositing its waters in the Oscare Ocean some thirty miles from the city of Torresta.
Also winding its way through the Jueng Plain is the Danilov Leyline.
Ecosystem
Large herds of herbivorous dinosaurs, particularly the liked named centrosaurus and kentrosaurus, roam the plain. They provide prey for the predator allosaurus and megalosaurus, and the occasional tyrannosaurus.
The presence of the Danilov Leyline results in magically enhanced creatures, such as the Ancient Tyrannosaurus, an unusually intelligent and wise old predator capable of speech in both the Archosauric and the Common tongue.
Ecosystem Cycles
The herds tend to reproduce during the spring. During these times the normally placid herbivores become more aggressive, both because males compete for access to the females and because the females must become more territorial to protect their nests.
Once the eggs are hatched the young dinosaurs become easier prey to the larger predators, resulting in greater aggression by their parents against other species.
Localized Phenomena
The presence of the Danilov Leyline winding through the plain results in spontaneous ensorcerment of creatures born or raised too close to the leyline.
Climate
The geographic location of the Jueng Plain results in moderate weather all year long. Its yearly climate cycle results in a cyclical raining season during the winter and a dry season in the summer.
Fauna & Flora
The previously mentioned centrosaurus and kentrosaurus, roam the plain. Their natural predators, allosaurus and megalosaurus, follow the herds. Though much less in number than other predators the tyrannosaurus also hunts on the plain.
The number of different grasses common on the Jueng Plain numbers in the hundreds. They include varieties commonly grown by civilized farmers, meaning that knowledgeable individuals can harvest their own food like their hunter gatherer ancestors.
