Journal 6

Following the friendly water elemental who’s leading us to the source of the corruption infecting the cistern. The water elemental suddenly disappeared and a man named Driggond claiming to be from the water guild saying there’s a leak of sea water filling the cistern with brine. The smell of contamination is filling the area and the man smells powerfully of sulfur. He asked what we were doing here. Luna appeared and presented the mission work order. As Luna did he deflated like a beach balloon, leaving behind just a small worm-like tendril that retreated into the water. Koda now this was an ooze who could duplicate who it’s eaten.

We continue searching the cistern and the path opens to a distinctly newer section of tunnel. The water is flowing out of this area and reeks of rotten eggs. We come to a man who also reeked of sulfur. Upon talking he transforms into a white/grey ooze.

Terus runs up using shocking grasp on the ooze for 4 dmg. Luna runs around to flank it casting Starry Whisp for 5 dmg. The ooze uses a devour-memory attack on Koda who crit saved. Koda then summons his greatsword and misses his attack. Mickey smashes it with his mace for 5 dmg then casts sanctuary on Koda. Terus misses with his bow. Luna casts Moonbeam dealing 5 dmg. The ooze moves away from us and out of the Moonbeam, deflated as well then disappeared into the cracks.

With combat over, we see several damaged sections of walls with water flowing OUT, not in. It appears something broke into the cistern in two places. Mickey found some documentation whose last date was nearly a week ago. Mickey started exploring one of the broken pieces of wall and the path gets smaller.

Suddenly we hear a scream from north of us. We run north and find a woman covered by the ooze. Terus hits with his bow for 8 dmg. Koda remembers oozes have an aversion to fire. Koda then throws a Firebolt dealing 8 damage and casts Armour of Agathys.

Mickey uses Thornwhip for 6 dmg pulling the ooze next to him. Luna casts Firebolt and hits for 8 dmg. Suddenly a large metal door falls cutting off our exit leaving only Terus on the outside. The ooze disappears taking 5 dmg from Mickey, along with the girl who were both heavys.

The water in this room starts rising. The door is used to segment parts of the cistern for cleaning or redirecting the water. Mickey and Terus locate the gear box noticing the brace removed. Mickey manages to use rope to jerry rig a fix and slowly raise the wall.

The ooze immediately appears again saying “One of me is enough to deal with the likes of you.”

Terus hits it with his bow for 10 dmg. Luna hits it with another Firebolt for 8 dmg. Koda misses with his greatsword. Mickey hits it with another Thornwhip pulling it away from Koda while dealing 3 dmg. The ooze attacks Mickey and Luna silvery barbs the attack saving Mickey. Terus misses with his longbow. Luna throws another Firebolt hitting 6 dmg burning the ooze killing it.

As we continue, Briggand, the real Briggand, by the other old man the ooze had transformed into. Briggand believes the person causing this is a Milton spy. Milton is a rival city. We help carry Briggand and Warner out of the cistern.

Upon exiting we are ambushed by the press. Elle Bly, a gnome reporter, is excited to hand this scoop. She immediately recognizes us as academy students/faculty. Briggand and Warren get the medical attention they need as were shot beats into the Bethal. Briggand says the ooze was a constructed ooze not a natural one. The bethel Keeper pays us the 500gp fee.
