Cosmology - World Axis Planes

The cosmology of Pasaulis centers on the Prime Material Plane. It is flanked by the Shadowrealm, which is geographically similar to the Prime, but is subject to primordial will, allowing powerful creatures to create distinctive environments, from vibrantly magical to darkly horrific. Above lies the Astral Sea, an infinite realm of thought and divine dominions, while below lies the Elemental Chaos, a turbulent expanse of raw elemental forces; Fire , Air, Water, Earth, Lightning and Force.

The Prime Material Plane is the work of the Creator, father of all. Cassia Mistress of Magic is His favorite daughter and Magic is intrinsically connect to her. All lines of all creatures originated with the Creator and some believe only exist because He actively wills it.

The Astral sea is a reflection of the night's sky. The deities who act most directly in the world reflect the 88 constellations that exist in the night sky. They have different names than those you might know, but like the sun and moon are same. One way into the astral is to fly into the sky.

The Shadowrealm is the original home of the fey, who believe that the Creator made them first. The Fey Roads or Shadow Roads allow passage from the material world, through shadow, and back. But they are not the only entrance to the Shadowrealm, which might just as easily be entered through a fairy ring or specific knoll or hill or sacred tree.

Above all is the Overheaven, the domain of Celestials and Deities, with perhaps a place for the souls of the blessed. Below all is the Underworld, domain of Fiends and Devils and perhaps the hapless souls of cursed mortals.

Joining the Prime and the Upper and Lower planes is the Ethereal. As such it is associated with the ghostly undead. The near Ethereal brushes against the Material Prime, so that some creatures can exist in one and see into the other, or even easily pass between. The Deep Ethereal joins to the Upper and Lower planes and to fall into the deep Ethereal is to chance being lost, unable to return to the mortal plane.

Mechanically moving into the Astral Sea is accomplished very much like in Spelljammer. A craft with the proper kind of helm can leave the world behind and will at the barrier between earth and sky slip into the astral.

Normal airships can not fly that high and are bound to the world.
