Military action
After the death of his mother, Triune XXV Rovana Karvo, Lord Commander John Karvo countermanded the stand-down order of the Council of Twelve and declared a Crusade against the Kalor Empire. It would become one of the hardest-fought wars in recent memory.
Triune XXV Rovana Karvo and her successor were assassinated by orcs while traveling through the Lord's Pass in the Radan Mountains. An investigation by the Inquisition revealed that the Orcish Kingdom of Valoran appeared to by at fault. Though the Council of Twelve desired further investigation, Scouts of the Paladin Order revealed mobilization of massive Orcish levies in the Kalor Wastes. This lead John Karvo, Lord Commander of the Paladin Order and son of Rovana Karvo, to ignore the Council's Order on the basis of an emergency situation, and called for a crusade. The fact that, though he was able to ignore the Council's directive as the last surviving member of the Tribunal, he could not call for a Crusade without a new Triune in place did little to dissaude him from seeking revenge for his mother's murder.
Massive levies from all the Northern Kingdom under the leadership of the church were sent south Av Javrel, the northernmost territories of Kaloran. Despite fierce orcish resistance, the crusade was highly successful, if costly. The timely arrival of forces from the hermit-like Dwarkun Empire turned the tide of the war at the Third Battle of Varangia. A treaty was eventually signed, leading to the concession of most northern territories of Kaloran, and admission of fault in the assassination.
The new lands were used to restore the lost Kingdom of Valorin, which took leadership of the Lost Vales, several of which were no longer cut off from the rest of the world by Kaloran.
