Wheatlon-at-Kesim
Demographics
Wheatlon is predominantly made up of farmers, shepherds, and other villagers who are refugees or the children of refugees from the old border region between the northern portions of the Reymal Empire and the Southwood.
Government
The village is run by a mayor who is nominally elected and a council made up of the most respected members of the village. Functionally, the council selects its own future members, but the small community helps ensure some degree of accountability, at least in theory. Village funding for festivals and so forth is provided by a small fund partially supplied by the abbey.
Industry & Trade
The village produces agricultural goods, in particular grain and cattle. The mill grinds grain to flour, although primarily only that intended for local use, and the smithy supplies manufactured goods for the village and, to a lesser extent, the abbey.
Infrastructure
The village has a single part-time smithy and a small watermill on Little Kesim Stream.
History
Founded 1060 with the help of Wheatlon Party
Architecture
The village is built in a motley confluence of Northreymic and Nevarine architectural styles, in both cases with tile roofs being favored for wealthier villagers and community-owned buildings.
