Badgerlord's Rest

Government

Badgerlord's rest is a yeoman village under the rule of the landed knight Sir Michael Torrin. Like all yeoman villages, it is largely self-governing, although Sir Michael serves as the village justice and as the village's protector when needed.

Defences

Badgerlord's rest employs two full-time guardsmen to keep the peace on market days.

Industry & Trade

As a market village, the economy of Badgerlord's rest comes not only from its fields and fisheries, but also its small group of skilled tradesmen, such as the village smith and the potter, and, of course, its weekly Market Days, held on Friday and Saturday. Then, local merchants display their wares, farmers from surrounding villages bring excess goods to market, and the ale flows freely from the local tap.

Infrastructure

Nestled between two small rivers, Badgerlord's rest is dominated by two ancient bridges of elvish design. Two rival watermills spin on either side of the village. It's small harbor is the busiest on Lake Charles.

History

The sole claim to fame of this small village is that, once upon a time, a young Badgerlord was forced to take shelter from a storm in the hayloft of a local barn. For this, the Badgerlord blessed the city with funding for the bridges, and extended personal gratitude. The barn has since been converted into the city's inn, the Badger's Pillow. How true this story is is highly questionable.

Geography

Badgerlord's rest lies between two small rivers and on the shore of Lake Charles. It is surrounded by its fields in all directions (besides the lake) for roughly a mile or so.
