Synopsis
The three person party sent by Baron Strika traveled to the Shadowkeep, a large castle in the mountains in the north. Upon reaching its grounds they are met with odd singing coming from a corpse wearing the uniform of a Strika servant. Out from the corpse appears a tiny old woman who grows to normal size and introduces herself as Putrid Agnes. She invites the party to enter the castle and then continues with her tiny shenanigans with the corpse. Asra does a short Strika funerary ritual which involves leaving some of her blood on the corpse (which will definitely not cause problems for her at some point in the future).
Upon entering the castle the party sees a room with a pillar in the center and a painting depicting a handsome, pale man slaying three lions and 12 bats. They then hear an unknown voice in their minds taunting them and shortly after they are attacked by four vampire spawn who were waiting in ambush on the ceiling. These vampire spawn are members of Baron Strika’s first group he sent to investigate the Shadowkeep. They defeat three and the fourth flees into a door on the north side of the room. The party follows into a room with a pentagram at its center with four cloaked figures at its edge. There are rows of pews lining the sides of the room full of shadowy spirits, and a large pipe organ against its far wall. The party sees the vampire spawn being comforted by one of the cloaked figures, who reveals himself as Azon Ven Glauer. The party begins to fight and in doing so end up killing all of the spirits which unknowingly is the purpose of the ritual and in doing so allow for a devil to join the fight on the side of their enemies.
After Azon and the Devil are defeated the unknown voice from before says that he is coming to deal with the party personally. This leads to the final battle with Count Rhodar von Glauer who ultimately defeats the party, killing Roshan and Euraphone, and leaving Asra pinned to the wall.
Important NPCs
Count Rhodar von Glauer - The current lord of House Glauer. He was a former servant who survived his house’s demise because he himself was not a vampire. Years later he made a deal with a devil to turn himself and two other servants into vampire-like creatures in order to get revenge on House Strika and the Lavandin royal family.
Famsa van Glauer - Count Rhodar’s right hand vampire (not met during the oneshot, but is the head military strategist of House Glauer)
Azon ven Glauer - Count Rhodar’s left hand vampire and head of all things occult/demonic in the Shadowkeep
Putrid Agnes - a night hag that has a symbiotic relationship with Count Rhodar, he gets the blood and souls of his victims and Agnes gets to dispose of the bodies, which she enjoys immensely.
Important Location
The Shadowkeep - an abandoned castle in the mountains up north. This was the ancestral home for House Glauer.
