Euan Draegard
Euan Draegard was a Kalashtar male Barbarian, adventurer, and crime lord.
Life
Born in 2612 ANG in Evendon, a small village south of Tae Dendei, Draegard was mostly detached from the events of the Second Arcane War. Even in childhood, he rebelled against his Quori, often causing trouble. His work ethic was excellent, however, and he developed a strong bond with his fellow townsfolk, even the few non-Kalashtar in the settlement.
When the town's water well ran dry, Draegard was sent to Tae Dendei to negotiate the exchange of mining rights for a steady supply of water to the village. A meeting was set up with a dwarf named Conder, a representative of the Ironheart Mining Guild's Expansion Department, at the Flumph's Flagon in the city. When Draegard arrived, however, Conder refused to negotiate, saying that he no longer had any interest in making a deal. On his way out of the city, Draegard was ambushed by Cenne d'Grezze and his thugs, and offered a deal: The mining rights he'd offered to Conder, as well as a certain number of jobs for Hulon d'Grezze, in exchange for the water supply. Draegard accepted.
After rescuing a Hulon d'Grezze artificer, clearing a mine of lizardfolk, and overseeing the purchase of a bag of holding filled with skeletons, Draegard was considered trusted and competent enough for his real mission: to assassinate the Council of Four. Initially unaware of their identities, Draegard infiltrated Bruen Vickleberry's mansion, but was foiled at the last minute when Vickleberry teleported away. He formed an alliance with the Breaktown Thieves' guild and the local Orc supremacists to defeat Khadgar Well, and found Derri's secret hideaway after she tried to have him assassinated, but let her go when she told him the truth.
Bruen Vickleberry was eventually tracked to a Yuan-ti temple in the Unclaimed Desert, but when Draegard arrived, Vickleberry, as well as most of the temple's population, had already been killed by a basilisk. He received a sending message from Cenne d'Grezze to go directly to Esidell to intercept his last target: Vulluin Skera. Infiltrating the Wizard's Conference that Skera was a part of, Draegard kidnapped his son Patrin and used him to lure out Skera and kill him.
On his return to Tae Dendei, however, Draegard discovered that he had been betrayed: Cenne d'Grezze had taken over the city, and ordered the destruction of Evendon. After killing Jalkar Bowmani, the mercenary sent to do the deed, Draegard teamed up with Derri to sneak into Tae Dendei and confront Cenne directly. Finding him in his mostly undefended mansion, Draegard and Derri killed him, splitting the city's governance between them: Draegard would take over Hulon d'Grezze, while Derri ruled the city in lieu of the Council of Four.
Personality
Draegard is headstrong and brash, never turning from danger or mincing his words. He is fond of deception and disguises, though his natural charisma isn't always enough to guarantee their success. When deception doesn't work, Draegard is no stranger to combat, wielding a +2 Greataxe with unparalleled ferocity. He is not a psychopath or sadist, but nor does he have any true concept of morality, despite his Quori's best efforts. His only loyalties are to himself and his village, and he is not incredibly religious, though he believes in the New Gods.
