The Story of Creation

In the beginning there was only one being, a being whose name has been lost to the ravages of time, a being of immense power. Was it the last of its race or was it the only of its race? Can we even speak of a race here? All we know is that this being was the only of its kind in the space where our multiverse rests. In this being lay the cause for genesis: loneliness. For sentience is a curse in solitude but a blessing in multitude. And so it was that the being split itself into the two eternals of the universe: Order and Chaos. Only a small part of the being remained to witness what it had wrought. Together, Order and Chaos created the worlds and the planes. Some planes were strictly lawful (Mechanus), others the epitomy of chaos (The Infinity Layer of the Abyss), most a mixture of the two opposites.
The first two non-eternal races were created. Its members, the so-called Primordials, came in two varieties: the Primordial Deities, who leaned towards order, and the Primordial Dragons, who tended to chaos. The two coexisted for a time during which they created multiple other, lesser races to bring life to the worlds they started shaping. Yet, this peace could not last. Individuals in both groups desired absolute power and a war erupted in the heavens. This war ended in a defeat for the Primordial Dragons who were banished to the Bleakness. Only a handful remained, among who were Taronym and Kilgara. These dragons sided with the gods and later came to be known as the draconic pantheon. This horrible period in history, that came to be known as the Dawn War, resulted in the deaths of Gods and Dragons alike. None of the Gods came out of the war unscathed. In order to regain their power, all went to sleep and left the world behind. During their sleep, the concentrated power that were the Primordial Gods fell apart. Several new deities came into being and old Primordials vanished from the heavens. This period of rest could be seen as the first step in the formation of the current pantheons. These new gods awakened in a new world: a world unknown to them; a world ruled over by elves.
