The myth of the Uprising
For when Viltis lifted his glaive the gods learned to weep and, as his glaive fell upon them, they learned to die.It has been over three thousand years since the first recorded historical event in Thysia, The Uprising. An event so ground-shattering that it both destroyed the world and created it. Whilst all scholars, historians and bards accept that there was certainly a world before this event, there is no record of it and so, because of this, The Uprising is treated as the creation myth of Thysia. Most of the people in Thysia accept the standard retelling of the Uprising myth written below, though some contend that the material plane chased the gods in war and were punished for their hubris whilst others claim that this was all propaganda created by the Viltis family to further justify their presence on the throne of Paradosi. This myth is what led to the Viltis Glaive becoming a legendary weapon throughout Thysia.

Summary
The Uprising was an event that took place when every plane of existence in the known universe went to war with one another and chose to use the material plane as their battleground.
This was, naturally, a disaster of the highest proportion for the so-far primitive and childlike mortals of the material plane who had no magic nor magical weapons to fight against these immortal beings from the many planes of existence.
The god of the material plane, recorded now as simply 'The Material Deity' saw how their children faced extinction at the hands of a war they were not a part of and so made a choice. They rewrote the scripts of fate and gave the mortals of the material plane a gift, they gave their children the ability to manifest their souls as weapons, armour or shields to protect themselves against the creatures from the other planes. The Material Deity named this gift 'The Soul Arms'.
For their crime, the Material Deity was targeted by the gods of the other planes and executed brutally. Torn limb from limb and beheaded. As the Material Deity fell, their body became the base and land for Thysia to grow once more.
But the damage had been done and mortals, now with the Soul Arms at their sides, were able to fight back once more and, though they fought valiantly, they continued to die in droves at the hands of semingly immortal gods.
Though the tide changed when one mortal known as Viltis strode across the battlefield and took the fight to the gods. Viltis was not cunning or a survivor... he was a warrior and so he saved Thysia the only way he knew he could. He started to target and slaughter Gods of other planes:
- The first God he slew bled so profusely that they soaked the world and filled the holes and cracks with blood... thus creating the oceans of Thysia.
- Viltis then targeted a god he felt a personal hatred towards, such was Viltis' anger that when he slew the god with his glaive, the metal struck the creature so hard that warmth and fire were born in Thysia.
- When Viltis slew another god he took his time with the creature. Such was the cruelty in Viltis' assault that the god's final breath blew across the land and gave birth to wind and cold in Thysia.
- Finally Viltis targeted one more god whom he slew so violently that the God was shattered across the world and, as his essence rained down he imbued the world with magic.
