They roam across Epizonia, fighting any they can find and stopping all who are not in service to them... If only they had stayed in Sibi with their own people, our lives would be far more peaceful and serene.
- The Mowbray family reflect on the existence and rapid expansion of the barony known as Stehno.
Stehno is the most recent barony established in
Epizonia, settled by a group of Sibi hunters who were banished from their nation 50 years ago, they carried themselves and their considerable force to
Epizonia where they carved out a piece of the nation for themselves and acted as marauding bandits before assaulting nearby small village barony's... those that refused their taxation demands were attacked and made a part of Stehno whilst those who acquiesced were allowed to remain independent... though constantly indebted to the new barony.
Due to this, Stehno are close to uniting almost the entirety of the north of
Epizonia and have built up a considerable city and space of self-sufficiency amongst them. Though very few visit the rough people that dwell there for fear of the chaos that the barony brings and the many, MANY horror stories associated with them.
Stehno haven't assaulted a neighbour for a number of years now and notably seem to take no interest in
The Circle... leading to many to speculate that the circle may have taken the same deal with Stehno that the barony of
Abrazar have taken, half of their income in return for protection from invasion.
In truth, Stehno functions fairly well with a focus on toughness and battle as well as very little notion of law. The people of the barony run on Sibian principles, they answer to the group who act as barons and if they have issues or concerns they must bring them to the barons to be dealt with.
Stehno still has a heavy military presence that are trained in Sibian styles of fighting and hunting, making Stehno an attractive location for adventurers or those looking for skilled mercenaries to hire.
