Draconic Gazette for June 15
Skyfury Storms Reach Their Peak
As the third week of Skyfury arrives, the skies above the Isle churn with unparalleled force. What began as scattered thunderheads has now escalated into full-blown magical stormfronts—particularly around the Veil of Ash and Wails, where lightning strikes spiral unnaturally, and thunder sings in strange, distorted tongues.
Zarythas the Stormcaller warns that these storms are feeding on ley energy dislodged from deep within the land:
“What rises now is not mere weather. It is the memory of war and the echo of fractured ley lines.”
Mystwood Groves Torn Asunder
The wrath of the Skyfury season has taken a new toll on mana-rich trees from the Mystwoods, which have been ripped from the ground, their roots glowing and twisting through the air before vanishing in pulses of arcane static. These trees were once thought to be immovable due to their deep connection to the ley lines beneath the island.
Scholars now fear that the stability of the land’s magic is unraveling, and Sylvara the Verdant has ordered that no magic be cast near active groves unless necessary.
Tattoo of Holding Now Available from the Conclave & Manfred
In a rare collaboration, the Argent Conclave and Manfred the Merchant have unveiled the Tattoo of Holding—a revolutionary magical item that is applied directly to the wearer’s skin.
Details Below:
- Cost: 500 gold pieces
- Storage Capacity: 500 pounds or 64 cubic feet of nonliving material
- Activation: Place your hand over the tattoo and speak your command word
- Restrictions: Cannot hold living creatures or items that create other extradimensional spaces (like Bags of Holding)
- Caveat: If the tattooed wearer dies, the extradimensional space collapses, violently expelling its contents nearby
Availability is limited and must be purchased either from a Conclave-approved vendor or by appointment at the Merchant Mile proper.
Heroes of Honeywood Establish Bastion Near Vaelora
The once-roving adventurers now known simply as the Heroes of Honeywood have established a fortified bastion near the sacred hills of Vaelora.
Locals report that the bastion serves as a refuge, training site, and political hub. The adventurers claim neutrality, yet have been outspoken about diplomacy with the centaurs and cooperation with the Conclave.
Curiously, a separate group claiming to be the original Heroes of Honeywood has arrived and is currently resting inside another bastion, leading to confusion and speculation island-wide.
Are these doppelgängers, time-shifted originals, or something stranger?
Argent Conclave Trains Elemental Specialists
In response to growing elemental instability, the Argent Conclave has begun training elite wizard apprentices aligned to each of the five dragon elements:
Flamebound Scholars (Fire – Pyraxys)
Tempest Wielders (Storm – Zarythas)
Frostmantled Seers (Ice – Almyra)
Grovebinders (Nature – Sylvara)
Lorescales (Arcane – Thyraxias)
Graduates of this accelerated training may soon be seen assisting Skywardens, supporting towns, or aiding in Mystwood containment efforts.
Manfred Magnificent Marauders For Hire
The Manfred Magnificent Marauders have now officially begun accepting contracts from any willing patron, regardless of alignment, city allegiance, or dragon oath.
Their first jobs include:
Escorting a mysterious relic from Sanctuary to Frosthaven Port
Hunting down a rogue centaur warband (allegedly unaligned with current peace talks)
Defending the Vortex Bastion during storm surges and temporal anomalies
Their neutrality—and price tag—raises eyebrows, but no one denies their growing influence.
Centaur Movement at the Dragon Gates
A grim report confirms that Annabelle, the Ashen Voice, was found barely alive after what is believed to have been an assassination attempt. Her body was recovered near the Arcway of Frosthaven Port, cloaked in silver fire and frost.
She remains in a deep, magical sleep, her mind unreachable by any form of divination. The Conclave has sealed her chamber with Veilglass wards.
Her fate remains unknown—and so does the identity of her attacker.
Final Word from the Council
Despite the silence surrounding the Ashen Voice and the converging centaur herd, the Council has issued a single phrase in this week’s official communique:
"Storms pass, but names endure. May we choose the name this season bears." — Thyraxias the Wise
