Draconic Gazette for April 27
Blazereign Fades, Gleamspire Dawns
As the final embers of Blazereign streak across the sky, the Isle prepares to welcome Gleamspire — the season when sunlight catches upon newly-forged dragon scales, and mortals honor the dragons with offerings, tributes, and grand festivals of light.
Cities like Honeywood and Vaelora are already stringing up banners woven with golden threads, while the artisans of Alaryn Refuge forge mirrored ornaments to decorate town squares.
The Council reminds citizens that Gleamspire ceremonies are sacred and must be observed with reverence and gratitude, for "the scales that gleam protect the land."
Heroes of Honeywood Named Agents of the Dragon Council
In a grand proclamation before the gathered citizens of Vaelora, Thyraxias the Wise formally recognized the adventurers of Honeywood for their valor, loyalty, and service to the Isle.
They are now official Agents of the Dragon Council, charged with defending the Isle’s interests and uncovering the rising mysteries that threaten the balance of the realm.
A feast was held in their honor at Sanctuary's Flamehall, where Thyraxias spoke:
"Flame and courage are kindred spirits. In these brave souls, we see both."
Their new status grants them special authority to travel, investigate, and command aid throughout the isle.
The Ashen Voice: Annabelle Joins the Council
In an unprecedented move, Thyraxias has also named Annabelle, the ebony-skinned elf from Honeywood, as The Ashen Voice — a new and enigmatic title within the Council.
Annabelle will act as a special envoy, bridging communication between the dragons and the Conclave beyond the Veil. Her duties include investigating the strange phenomena arising across the Isle and providing insight into ancient forces once thought buried.
Discovery of Strange Creatures Stuns the Isle
The heroes of Honeywood reported a chilling encounter near the edges of the Mystwood groves:
A triangular-shaped creature, flickering between realities.
A slick-skinned, octopus-headed being, whose mere presence distorted the air around it.
These creatures were found dead and are now under investigation by The Ashen Voice and the Argent Conclave at a secured facility in Drakaris.
Initial findings suggest these beings are not of this plane — possibly tied to ancient breaches in the magical fabric of the Isle.
The Mystwood Grows — Even Beneath the Waves
Strange, crystalline trees now bloom across every corner of the Isle — and alarming new reports confirm that underwater groves have begun to form in the shallow seas near Frosthaven Port and Hoofsprings Bay.
Sylvara the Verdant, Councilor of Life and Growth, has officially named these phenomena Mystwood.
Her proclamation explains:
"The Mystwood arises from the Isle’s fractured ley lines — where magic, life, and memory bleed into the waking world."
It is now widely believed that the Mystwood is the cause behind the erratic magical effects plaguing the Isle, from wild surges to unintentional summoning of strange creatures.
The Council warns all citizens:
Do not tamper with the Mystwood.
Report new groves immediately.
Avoid casting magic
Skywardens have expanded their protection zones around new groves, both on land and at sea.
Centaur Armies Stir at Hoofsprings
Though centaur raids have all but vanished following the rise of the Mystwood, new intelligence suggests a much larger movement is underway.
Scouts report mass gatherings of centaur tribes near Hoofsprings, with banners unseen since the War of the Shattered Horn centuries ago.
Skywarden Command has issued this statement:
"Peace may be the silence before the stampede. We will stand ready."
Travel near Hoofsprings is discouraged, and adventuring parties are urged to exercise extreme caution.
Manfred Merchant Mile — Now in Darkaris!
The ever-unpredictable Manfred the Merchant has arrived in Darkaris, offering his latest bizarre wares at the Moonshadow Market.
Rumors suggest he has:
Liquid starlight bottled in crystal flasks.
Feathers from forgotten dragons said to grant flight.
A compass that points not north, but "where you are needed most."
Some whisper that Manfred possesses artifacts from the Mystwood itself, though the Council has issued warnings against acquiring such items without formal sanction.
Council in Session: A New Era Begins
As Blazereign fades and Gleamspire rises, the Draconic Council stands at a crossroads.
With ley lines breaking, ancient visitors arriving, and strange creatures stalking the wilds, Thyraxias reminds all citizens:
"Gleamspire is a time to honor the light. But it is also a time to prepare for the dark that follows."
The skies blaze. The seas shimmer. The Isle holds its breath.
